Since the new Y.O Cast Rallye's are starting to ship and with the variety of 17 inch wheels increasing. How about a 17" wheel picture thread with tire brand/size and backspacing info?

I imagine something in the 295/305/315 width range would look great on these big b bodies. The issue I was seeing was the lack of height. I have yet to find many pics of larger rims on the 71-74s.

That looks great! It seems like the 50 series tires help on the tire height a little more than the 45 series. I would love to see some 17's on the 71-72's Roadrunner/Satellites... It seems that the wheel well shape on them require a bit more "fill" to make it look good.

That tire combo looks much better! Since we tried to mount a 15 rallye and the curve of the wheel hit the caliper and Magnum 500's would not clear the Wilwood hub on the front brake kit. I think I am going to have to go with 17's. Just have to decide on what wheel.......and then what tire.

So far looking...thinking something like 17x8 front and 17x9 rear with maybe....

Toyo Proxes STII
225/55/17 front - 27.8od - 9.1 tread width
275/55/17 rear - 28.9od - 10.9tread width

or one of these....
BfGoodrich g-Force KDWS
245/45/17 front - 25.7od - 9.6tread width
255/50/17 rear - 27.1od - 10.4tread width

I was in hopes that I could find a match front and rear tire that would be close to the same od of the popular 15" package of 27 tall fronts and 28 tall rears. But to get that 27 tall on the front it gets the tread width over 10". That just seems bit much????? Anyone else have any suggestions?

After looking over the numbers here is another...thought?

NITTO 450
255/50/17 front 27.05od - 10.16tread width
275/50/17 rear 27.83od - 11.06tread width

I like the 225's here for the tread width on the fronts. But 25.9 may be a little to short with a 27.8 on the back???
225/50R17 - 25.94od - 8.9tread width

THANKS! I will be playing with that all night watching BJ!!!!!!

225/50/17 on a 8"rim is almost dimensionally (sp?) the same as the 225/60/15 on a 6" rim!!! Just have to wonder what a 225/50/17 will look like on an old car.

i can't find the thread so heres what I bought:

sorry no front pics as my front suspension is all out and not put together!
They look as good as they did on the net! Only wish they had the beauty ring instead of the polished lip!

good news everybody - went and weighed them at the station today - it says 10kg or 22 lbs, take it with a grain of salt - i don't know the accuracy of it

I went to the old mans house and he had a 72+ center and it fits perfect even the holes on the back match up

Those wheels on that there looks great on that car! Keystone classics seem to have always been my pick but everytime i see these, i could change my mind very easy! With me it depends on the model, Your wheels on there now, i don't know if they would look that "sweet" on my 73, but to me they sure do on yours!

I think I could learn to live with 17" wheels, but I can't live without RWL tires on them. Guess I'll stay with 15s.

I do not think these are currently manufactured. I could live with different center caps but she likes them so they stay.100_6327.jpg
