Hello from Pa Barn Find Survivor 69 Charger RT

Thak you for the kind words and Vandergrift is stilll country.

- - - Updated - - -

I will do that have fun in Michigan.

Whats everones thoughts on weather I should insatll a mechanical or Hydraulic cam.

If you are building a driver I would go with a hyd. cam . Lots of good profiles out that will give you all you need for a pump gas motor, and without the hassle of adjusting valves.

If you can do what you're doing... You'll enjoy setting up some valve lash every year. Go solid, it's a Mopar for Christ sake, not a camaro.

the 69 charger is the nicest , i mean!!! have fun with it!

Clean it up, and get it running. Put it on a lift and do a good look over. If you don't have any serious cancer, Don't go hog wild and rip the car down to bare metal. It all the little things that start adding up when you do that.

Unless you just won the lottery, and money no object. Most restoration shop will put it in you every month they have it, and then you'll have a car that you will have more into then it is worth.

It look pretty solid, except for a few love dent that can be pulled out and repaired.

You are a little late, read the WHOLE thread....

Oh , man , what a find ! Of course , its green ! Nice score on it . I always loved the stripe delete cars .

Wow that body is in great shape.

Having said that, I can't help but feel that you blew a great opportunity to showcase a true survivor. You had something that was unique, now, you'll have something that is a typical resto.

X2! Different strokes for different folks. I'm sure it will be beautiful when its done, but it will never be original again.

great find have fun working on it hope you get it done for the nats maybe we could meet and cruise together i live in Jeannette i have a 63 fury good luck with your car bob

Nice find..those old western PA towns have hidden finds still...

Don't all B-bodies come with hitches? If not what do you hook the tow bars and trailers to when find the other ones that you have to haul home?

Welcome and Man what a great find! Btw, did you send the hitch out to get rechromed? Gotta keep it on there so you can tow the Chevy's back to their homes with, lol!
Take care and have fun with YOUR car the way YOU want to do it!

I am in deep thought again, my car came with a white roof and stripe delete. What's everyone's thoughts on If I change the roof to black and add the stripe, the interior is green.

I think it's rather unique that it is green with a white top, most green cars were black top or green.Call me a purist, but #'s matching,4speed car, stripe delete,.....I'd go original. My 3x9 R/T SE is tripe delete and love it like that !!!!!

I definitely would NOT do a complete resto on that car. If it is as solid as it looks, just wash it buff it out/wax it, clean the interior and get running good. That car is worth so much more as a survivor because as others have said they are only original once. If there is exterior surface rust coming out, clean it off and have those areas spot painted/matched to the the original paint. The drive and enjoy the car. Why spend big bucks restoring a car that does not need a complete resto. I wish my 72 RR was in have the shape your Charger is in.

Joe

Ditto. No restoration is what i would reccomend. i would replace the top and clean it out and replace any pep boys parts with good old Mopar nos. Even if the paint isn't perfect, you'd be surprised at how good you can make it look assuming it has no bondo repairs in its past and is truly original. Speaking of original, dont clean off any inspection or quality control marks in the process of making the engine bay presentable..... research resaerch research. Reading and learning everything you can about you car is part of the fun.

It's only original once..... If it has truly only 37000 miles, you've got a great candidate as a day two or survivor reference car for others to compare in their restorations.

Congratulations! You've got a keeper.

post some pictures of the interior and engine..... You've come to a great place for advice, help....... And information.... start by looking at the related threads for your car on this and other sites.

Welcome and keep us posted!

Getting closer the motor should be back together soon. Just waiting for the body to be finished being painted.

nice find! Find a body shop that know how to use a clay bar and check out how pretty that paint can look. low miles I wouldn't rebuild, wash claybar, n wax get all the necessary rubber parts replaced, clean gas tank and drive it

Won't be long now here is the motor.image.jpg
