He started at 25K a few weeks ago. Told me at the time he had an offer of 20K. Guess he should have taken it.

For that price, I know if a 70 Road Runner 440 pistol grip 4-speed car that runs and drives. granted its originally a 383 car that has an 8 3/4 but it does run and drive and has a fairly complete 6pk set up for it in the trunk

The Roadrunner in Colorado seems to be the better deal. The GTX is well documented, though I would like to see a few more options at this price point. I question the 'no rust' comment and the primer at the rear wheel openings (though I guess it could be just slight surface rust).

Well what would think would be a good price? It does seem to be complete in that it has the original drivetrain. Gotta be worth somethin.

Hey Rusty
Was thinking around 10k mark thought it looked a lot rougher than 18k
and says no rust but can see there is in the pass q panel pic so guessing there more

Mike, I'm not sure how to interpret your post so I'm going to presume you think the asking price is 'too high'.

Consider this... the car is a documented four speed STP car; one of about 200.
The RR for $9,500 is one of about 8,000 (so far as we know. not as much detail)

Let's say it takes $30,000 to get both to comparable condition.

In the end, I think $48K for a freshly restored 70 GTX, NOS matching, four speed, STP car is a pretty fair price.
Could you get $39,500 out of a 70 383-four speed RR? Maybe, there are some things we don't know about the RR.

I don't think the price is out of line. I think the color (EF8) hurts the price for the person wanting to restore to original. Repainted and striped in a 'more desireable' color like EV2 would make that $48,000 look like a pretty good price.

My two cents....

I think 12-14K is more reasonable. 48K for a non N96 (which most people would value over the STP) green on green car in today's market? I don't think so.

What I was trying to see if my head was in the right thinking, it has been awhile since on the hunt for stuff, one of things that was considering is the motor is rusty mess...but all in all if my thoughts were in the ball park

Mike

nice looking car and options also but that seem like a premium price, maybe worth it ? if that rusty free

As I posted, I think the color hurts the car for the person that wants to restore to original. Painted a different color, I don't think $48 is out of line.

In this economy $10,500 - $12,500. Cost to restore 20 to 25,000 if you do all of the labor yourself with the exception of the paint. But who wouldn't want to restore a 70 GTX.

1970 gtx black with white stripe and burnt orange interior 440 4 speed dana

If thats the case then what would mine be worth factory black with white stripe and burnt orange interior 440 4 speed dana 4 barrel car. roger at the gtx registry says it is 1 of 1 he only knows of one other one that color combination and it is a six pack car. also my car is rust free from georgia and the engine is a warranty block from dealer with matching numbers tranny and dana car is in primer now blocked and ready for paint engine compartment painted and trunk also and doors cut in also

16500 is on the high side for sure! But not out of line if it has the original eng with it! In this economy it would be tough to get 40-50k price!

I think you got that car for a killer deal. Really neat colors too. Obviously the warranty block hurts it but the colors are cool (IMO). Last fall 13k bought a orange/white interior auto N96 replacement block 1970 GTX. I think a lot of potential buyers look for a N96 car (I know I am). If the green GTX had air grabber, I'd pony up near 16K as it is local (figure 2.5K shipping and transfer fees for a east coast car to BC). There was a gtx on cars online from Arizona that was listed for 20k (auto blue/blue). Prices seem to be all over the place, i guess proof is what a car actually sells for. But what do I know; October 2011 I passed on a gtx on ebay that the guy sold for 12K the day after the listing ended- white/black n96 super trak Pak car that was painted purple just north of Green Bay. Kicking myself over that one.
