They finally got the quarter hung and trunk pan installed.

When they put color on it, should the white tail stripe be over top of the orange
and then clear coated? Painter says I may feel a slight lip.

He said the only way to not feel a lip is build the cars clear coat up with 6-8
coats which is not built into the price.

Any thoughts?

i would want to go over the stripe with the clear coat. how much will it add to the cost and is it worth it to you Rusty?

They intend on going over the white stripe with a clear coat. I mentioned to the painter that I prefer not to feel any lip. He said the only way to do that is build up the clear coat in excess 6-7 coats. I think they were only doing 3-4 coats. I think it would be minimal with the 3-4 coats.
He mentioend somehting about $400-500 more just in material. I thought that was high.

I painted my 69 R/T stripe on 8 coats of clear. 4 coats wet sand and 4 more then buff. CAN'T feel the line , I love it!. quite a bit of extra work involved! $500 does not seem to high.
