My new headers came in!

My Hedman headers that I ordered from Summit came in and I am impressed to say the least. I've seen several headers that cost more not be built nearly as good. The flanges and welds are heavy and even the collectors are better than average. Now how they fit may be another story (bigblock 71 charger, column shift automatic, power steering we shall see) But for now, I'm very impressed.

The part# is 78030 and cost $160 through Summit. These are painted, not coated, but they do offer coated headers of the same number as well. I kind of like the vintage rusty, burnt tube look ;)

Nice looking Headers. I used to run Hedman Elite headers on my old 440. Ron

I was gonna get those, but too many people around here said they fit like hell so I got Dougs instead. Good luck. I hope they work for you.

i bolted the same set up to my 440 on the run stand and they sealed up beautifully. im sure it will be some what of a battle when i go to put them in the car , but i will make them work. dont be suprised if the fire department shows up when the paint starts burning off - holy cow, ive never seen so much burning paint smoke from a set of headers

I used the hedman elete headers on my 66 belvedere with a 440. They look nice but they didn't fit around the power steering box worth a dam. I had to take the steering box off and slot two of the upper mounting holes on the steering box. This slightly tilted the box giving about a quarter of an inch of clearance. I also had to use a mini starter and even then I had to put in a few dings to give the starter a little clearance. I'm thinking if you don't have power steering this would help. I have to say after three years I have not had any problem since the first install with the headers.
