No ammo to be had?

Why do we law abiding gun owners feel the need to defend our stance on this issue? Its in the constitution.Done deal.I dont waste ammo. I already know how to shoot. Unless theres a war i,m probably good for life. Safe is stocked.Wish I could help but have'nt bought any in a couple years.

Because if you read the constitution the second amendment says "Right to keep and bear arms".Arms means everything, doesn't distinguish between handguns, rifles, assault weapons etc,it says "arms'.The 1968 Gun Control Act took care of automatic weapons and a bunch of other regulations. So tell me and those gun owners in California that the second amendment will let them go about business as usual!!:icon_sad:

Methinks it's a ruse to drive the price up-and it's working. Sort of like the bullshit gas shortage in the early Seventies(a whole 'nother topic...). I only need .22LR for the rifles(Marlin M1 and a Ruger),30-30 for the Marlin 336 and 12G slugs for the Mossberg, and stocked up last fall. I need to get out and do some shootin' and sight my **** in. That would expend some of it,which mean$ I get to buy more...at a higher price. Can't wait for garage sale season;picked up a box of 500 .22LR Remingtons at a sale last year for 10 bones-SWEET! The old Marlin M1 likes CCI,but will shoot about anything. I picked up a Ruger 10/22 last year and haven't even fired that suckah yet! Word from friends with those say they like CCI as well. The Marlin 336? Again, need to get out and see what it likes. I've got Federal,Hornaday LeveRevolution and Remington rounds to try. Watch;it'll prefer the Hornaday, which is PRICEY. Oh well...

that 10/22 is a nice gun. i use federal with it and it works very well.

I think you mean ACP which stands for Automatic Colt Pistol. I never have a problem buying in bulk for my needs. 5.56 x 45/.223, .308/7.62 x 51, 45ACP/45 PDX, 45 Long Colt, 410 PDX ammo, 12 Gauge PDX ammo as well as the other 12 Gauge types of uses. Just gotta have the connection I guess. I also re-load which saves a bundle. You can never have enough period. Sorry PABSTER but a measly 50 rounds as a back up really won't be very effective in the long run either. But I understand your point 100% as a recent gun owner and a family man with kids too. In this day and age, and this is my opinion based on reliable information and intel, one should have at least 2000 plus rounds for each weapon that they own along with at least 2 years supply of powder, lead, primers, and brass. In addition, one needs to have at least 2 years supply of food in storage along with as much physical Gold and Silver Bullion. Not the paper stuff that most Wall Street spin doctors suggest. The physical stuff. It has also been suggested that the recent shortage is due to the Government buying up tremendous amounts of ammo because they fear that the eminent collapse of the US Gov't and Economy will necessitate mass upheaval and rioting and therefore need it to maintain proficiency and their edge. So it really is quite simple here....The more one can acquire and physically have, then the better to counter act the Gov't. So keep investing in lead as I am doing. And when you can get it, go for the "Ball" type ammo for target practice and scenario shooting as it is far less expensive than Hollow Point, Expandable Ammo, and PDX/Personal Defence. I have been doing it now for over 8 years so I guess I am prepared. Good luck though to the rest that haven't seen this inevitable collapse coming...That is just my humble opinion only...Carry On....

Thanks, sometimes my brain gets ahead of my spelling !!:icon_confused:

I bought 3,000 rounds of Portuguese manufactured surplus 9MM back in 2007, and I think I still have about 2,000 rounds left, but that's because I've been too busy between work and cars to go shooting like I used to.

Dang...one box of .40's and shipping AND handling is 12.75. That 19.19 cost per box doesn't sound that good now lol. But if I order 10 boxes, shipping is 17.27. Someone mentioned that Cheaper Than Dirt sucks....can ya tell me why you don't like them?

I read the Homeland Security buy was 1.6 Billion rounds!!! also like 8,000 fully auto weapons. Thats a lot of terrorism!

99S: I am a life member of NRA. That's not to say I am lockstep with all their demands and ideas. I have an ex-law enforcement background, a CCW, and carry on a consistant basis. I find your ability to throw a blanket over the 4 million plus members and put us all in a neat little box a disgusting and ignorant rant. Educate yourself. Check out the NRA's youth education programs, their sponsorship of shooting matches and the lobbying to protect our Second Ammendment rights. At the same time do some reading on the organizations that would like nothing better than to disarm all law abiding citizens. As the saying goes, "The best advocate for the right to carry a gun is a liberal who has been mugged".
If you want to blame someone for a shortage of ammunition look no further than the media. Every event is a spectacle these days and yes, they influence the public to buy firearms and ammunition at an alarming rate. I would venture to say that most of these purchasers are not NRA members.

My first post here, but the main reason I stopped buying from cheaper than dirt was because they stopped selling guns for a while. Kinda pissed me off that a gun store would stop selling guns and follow all the recent hype. Not only that but last time I looked on there they were trying to sell mini 14 (20 round) mags for about $90. These are normally a $20-$25 mag.

The NRA is the only thing we have to keep the Democrats from passing more stupid laws to prevent Honest people from owning guns period!

X2!!!! - they may not be perfect but if it were not for the NRA we would not even have grandpa's side by side today. They (we as members) alone have held off the onslaught from the left for decades.

If you want ammo go to one of the gun specific forums,Ruger,Colt,S&W,the High Road,Accurate Reloading forum,Long Range Hunting,24 hr Campfire, etc,to name a few. There is a lot out there in individual hands, most is pretty reasonable, though some over priced but you'll do better than CCDN,Midway etc.

99ss,Dude, You must be watching MSLSD ( msnbc ) because your facts are way off! All u have to do is look back to the Clinton administration.

Sorry to offend you- but tell me which party is trying to disarm the American people??

Trying to pass legislation to make all gun purchases subject to background checks is not "trying to disarm the American people". No one is going to take your guns away. I know the NRA wants everyone to think this could happen, but that's a message designed to make everyone buy more firearms and ammo, and obviously the message works. Just remember, not all "liberals" and "Democrats" are down on guns. I'm a firm believer in the 2nd amendment. I'm just not a fan of how the NRA protects it.

Thanks for all the tips, folks. If you got ammo, have fun shooting it!

I see you are in CA,tell me why more and more dealers won't ship to law abiding CA dealers and citizens,is that the NRA.'s doing or does it have something to do with Diane Feinstein

If you doubt me go to any of the major internet gun sights such as Guns America,GunBroker,Guns International etc.More and more,"No California Sales"

Is this what you want ?

There he goes to the political forum again... this thread is just baiting people into that specific argument... It took a wrong turn somewhere...

my 2 cents-got plenty of 7.62X39 couple years ago--real cheap 150per 1400 rnds- should have bought more but a case is plenty--no need to worry as to ammo--it will still be availabel--the sellers will make more profit and the scared gun owner's will get ammo-IT'S ALL ABOUT THE DOLLAR BILL

reason for no ammo is simple,DEMAND.here are your steps;
1)several well publisized major shootings.
2)obama tells biden"create some gun legislation!"
3)media blows it out of proportion.(the legislation, not the murders)
4)general public goes"crap,i need guns and ammo before they are all gone!"
5)ammo and guns fly off the shelves like nobodys business.
6)gun and ammo manufacturers thank obama in a secret ritual no one gets to see(just speculation here.)
there you go.simple to understand and no conspiracy needed.

Reading your post was the dumbest thing I have ever read! Nazis took guns from there citizens just like the liberals(nazis) in this country are trying to do. I could go on and on about this but since this is a free country for now ( not if you have your way) I will just exercise my 1st amendment and say that "Fu(k off you liberal SOB". I served and fought for this country. I took an oath when I joined the Marine Corps to defend the constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. Taking our guns IS a violation of the 2nd amendment! Like it or not. Feel free to respond to this post all you want (i fought for that right for you, your welcome) but I will not respond to your post. You are not a true American.
Disclaimer: this is just my opinion, please don't that this right away from me also.
