Building my Superbird....

anyone heard of a 69 superbird?

Every time i read a build thread here I am amazed at the talent you guys show. But THIS!? You have gold in your hands.

Wow, that is amazing fabrication you are doing. I wouldn't have thought a person could make that complex of parts by hand.

I would like to see what the whole car looks like now. Your work is amazing.

Don that's amazing work...I'm just shaking my head...how close to Pitt Meadows are you by chance?I'm out here with a 70 RR...

nothing from the factory was ever put into production using the 69 plymouth body. im sure there was plenty of experimentation using them.

I have not seen any Plymouth B bodies studies because at that time Petty wanted to drive a Daytona and when told no he left Plymouth and went to Ford.

I have seen a few pics of a 70 Superbee Bird. If someone has a base 70 Coronet they just need to nose cone, wing, fender scoopes and the cap for the hood. I think the 70 Superbird hoods were 70 Coronet hoods that were cut and a piece welded in.

I love this thread and the metal fab work is just beyond anything I could ever dream of doing and it is an art from that you have mastered.

Great pics Stu - now that's some talent..sculpting the concept pieces in clay in the 60's. Dave I am on V island but sometimes get to the Vanc mopar shows. RT guy...your right aboout the hood mods to the 70 coronet hood etc. As I don't have a steel coronet hood so I am going to cut my RR hood at the front and fab a superbird insert...we'll see how that works..or not...haha, I do have air grabber 'glass hood scoop on a 'glass s bird hood I made as a back up, in the meantime the un-glamorous part of this build- hot tanked the front susp., and FirmFeel parts in the future.

Making my ' glass bird hood now, this is the inner hood gelcoated and ready for a few layers of 2oz matt. Hood is done so will bond these two then graft my air grabber piece on and a 'glass air box...which I also make.
