Was there more than one radio option for the 69 RR's?

Can you guys post some pics of factory radios installed in the dash (or out of the car would be fine too) please?

Much appreciated
Thanks!!!!!!!

Am, am/fm and optional under dash 8 track (i think) and delete of course.

Did all the RR radios have to two roller selectors as shown in the pics above? My dash has two holes (like the mid 70's radios for the volume and tuners knobs) Just wondering maybe someone modified the dash....any pics of just the dash itself?

There was 3 basic radio options for 1969. First was a AM only Music Master, option code R13. The next was the AM only with stereo 8 -track player, option code R22. The last was the AM/FM radio R21. Radio styles used thumb wheel design for 1968-1969. In 1970 they used a conventional knob on each side. In 1971 it changed to an odd styling of both knobs on one side of the unit. Sorry don't have any pics except my dash with the 8 track.

Yep

In dash for 69
No such thing. A radio was never standard in the RR. You cannot 'delete' what was not standard. Otherwise we'd have A/C delete, PS delete, PB delete, six way seat delete, PW Delete, Tach delete, wheel cover delete, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

Didn't the '70 8-track still use thumbwheels?

Yes, the 8 track option ran all 4 years 68-71. It also used option code R22 for 70. In 1971 an AM/FM with a cassette was added, option R26.

Good point, I was just trying to say delete was a choice, maybe calling it an 'option' was the wrong wording.

Actually, I think you had it right.

Deleting was not a choice as there was never the chance to remove something that wasn't already there.
A buyer had to make a choice to have a radio.
Choosing to not have one is not deleting...it's just choosing to not have one.

I understand that 'radio delete' is commonly used and for some reason seems to indicate something 'special' about the car. It's quicker and easier to use the incorrect term 'radio delete' than say 'original buyer too cheap to buy the car with a radio.'

I get a kick out of the guys that use radio delete like it means there was something 'really special' about their car. If you want to misuse the term, why not go all out and call it an 8-track or CB delete?

Is this one? could be for sale if needed..

Nice looking car ! Great job. I believe that those holes in the panel are for the mounting bolts. An easy way would be to measure the distance of the center of the holes. I can measure the mounts on my radio and that should give you an answer. Just a thought............

Nope....Not modified. The two larger holes (where there is a serrated circle/imprint around the holes), is where the radio mounts in the front. Look at the Radio above your post, the two bolts just to the outside of the thumbwheels are the bolts that secure through those holes. Might want to use a rounded cap head bolt with a star washer so the head of the bolt isn't backed up against and pushing out on the plastic radio faceplate. The other holes in your dash are for the centering pins (2) and 4 more for the faceplate screws. Also, that U shaped slot inside the dash on the bottom right side of the opening is for the rear radio mount.

Good luck, cars looking great!

AWESOME!!!! Thanks guys, I'm glad it hasn't been modified!!! Does anyone sell a delete plate for the radio???

Not that I'm aware of. I just made one out of a piece of sheetmetal and painted it black.
