Headers?

I had those exact headers on my 64. If you have a 440 maybe I'd say go for it. Don't waste your money if you have a 383-400 block. They hit everywhere. Pan rails, trans pan rail, drag link, Starter... Mine had less than 60 miles on them. I cut them up with a sawzall and put manifolds back on. Not worth the hassle.

Are the engines really that different? That it would make fitment that much worse.

yes, i just change from a 440 to 400 in my 63 belvedere never had so much hell with headers till now, hooker comps and super comps = no go,ended up using my old hedman hustlers from another 65 and still not a good fit.the lower deck height is the main problem.if using aftermarket heads with raised exhaust ports it would be less of a hassle. Old thread but I think it´s better to continuing this thread than start a new.
I just installed the hedman 78030 in a 64 belvedere 440/727 no power steering, no power brakes.
The passenger side was plug and play, installed from underneath.

The drivers side was a little more work. A standard starter will not clear the header, not even with a mini starter but close, just a couple of hits with a hammer. This header will also hit the torsion bar, but just barely. A couple of hits and it solved the problem. This side was installed from underneath as well.

These headers fits very well in early b-bodys with plenty of clearance exept for some minor trimming for the starter and torsion bar.

I have used Headman with 1 7/8 tube on a 65 B body with B block (383) 4 speed. Full size starter, just dropped the drag link and installed the drivers side from the bottom. Did not have to ding them and cleared every thing.

No one has mentioned this but not all exhaust ports are in the same location. -1 Indy's are higher unless you run EZ. Mine is a tall deck with _1's. I run 5320 2 1/8"Hooker race headers with one tube thru the fender well. They install pretty good if you pull the steering column shaft back yo the firewall and take the drag link off. The right side fit perfect. The left side needed one tube bent for torsion bar clearance and one tube remade entirely.
