Police in Detroit last night announced the discovery of an arms cache of 200 semi-automatic rifles with 25,000 rounds of ammunition, 2 tons of heroin, 5 million in forged US banknotes and 25 trafficked prostitutes - all in a semi-detached house behind the Public Library on Woodward Ave. Local residents were stunned, and a community spokesman said: "We're all shocked; we never knew we had a library."
 
Yes that's my town.
Hey at least they finally locked up our crooked ex mayor today.

Things are a lot different than when I was a young man there in the early 60's. Went to Wilbur Wright trade school on 12th street near Grand River. I don't think that I would ever go to any class re-union there.

Used to live down that way. Worked at a couple of service stations,including one at the corner of the Southfield e-way and Grand River. Got shot at while changing the prices on the big sign out front-what a thrill. Also was a bartender at the (in-)famous "Uncle Sam's" on Telegraph and Schoolcraft back in '75. THAT was a fun time. Oh,yeah,that was a FUN time...
 
Not a surprise. Lets see how many cops already knew about it? Lets hear a big Booyeah for Kwame getting convicted!

Think that is bad! There is a Wayne County Sheriff that has thrown his hat into the ring for the next mayoral gig! Ten years ago I was sitting in a cop-bar on the east-side, when he was running up the DPD command ladder. The cops at that time commented to me about him then. They said that when he was on the street, he was running whores on the side as a cop-pimp.

Sure sounds like Detroit to me!

Heard about stuff like that back when I was down there;he probably wasn't the only one. There were rumors of one of ol' Coleman(A.Young)'s close relatives(another "cousin") doin' da Big Pimpin' Thang right under the nose of,and with the "approval" of the PD and the Mayor's office. Scott;it's probably no different in Chi-Town,NYC,Atlanta or any major city. Graft,corruption and cash is what greases the wheels. Sadly,the lure of $$$,along with the power and control that goes with it,could/would/will corrupt the majority of usually "honest" folks.

Oh;you can bet your sweet bumpers that ol' Benny has names and numbers of folks that are now "obligated" to "help" his campaign. And,yeah;he goes back to the Coleman Young debacle,and profited mightily from those times. If I'm not mistaken,isn't he a "cousin" of Coleman? Hmmm...
 
It's really sad that Detroit has fell so far... seems to be the good old Detroit Dem/Political Machine & their corrupt ways, at it again, we see this stuff more & more everyday now, votes for support from the top, in way too many of the larger inner cities, mismanagement, out of control spending, golden parachute pension deals, escalating crime, descending housing prices & growing vacancy rates/abandoned houses, higher property taxes, people leaving in droves, businesses shutting down right & left, blatant corruption even at the top office's of the City Council or the Mayors & a common denominator always seems to be, unsustainable or failed big union policies, taking them down or bankrupting them, at a minimum at least aiding to or causing many of these problem...

I don't know if this is true or not but I heard on the radio that a North Korean film crew went to Detroit and filmed all around the city, then went home and made what amounts to a propaganda film for the N Korean people that portrayed the whole United States as being like Detroit is now. That the whole country is having the same problems as that city. And the sad thing is that most of those otherwise uninformed people will believe that is how things really are here!
 
Oh, BTW, about 8 years ago, a relative of Kwame came in, and in drunken stupidity, shot-up this same bar! Any Detroit insiders (and cops) know the place on the east-side I'm talking about?
