Hi,

Gathering parts for a GenIII Hemi swap into a 1970 Charger. Can anyone advise of suppliers of replacememnt fuel tanks with in tank (EFI) fuel pumps?

Thanks for any help.

If you want to go more of a conservative route, get a new tank, an intank pump with sump (tanksinc.com), cut a hole in new tank, mount pump, and be done.

Uh Nick, could you translate that in english for us?

You can also use a stock fuel sender and tank. Just cut the end of the fuel pick up and attach at walboro 255 pump. You will also have to get some wiring done but that should not be too difficult

In line fule pumps - ok option?

I see this recommendation, but have also seen that it is not a good option. Can someone explain a little more? Thanks. Is this adequate for a cruiser with a 6.1. I have a wagon and a new tank isn't easily available with internal pump.

thx

I have never heard this one before, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. If your in the market for a custom tank, shoot me a PM.

I think my biggest concern with a stock tank would be the chance of cavitation. You would be well served to weld some baffling underneath/around the fuel pickup to ensure that you will always be sucking fuel and not some air if your fuel level is low and/or your fuel sloshes in corners.

I ended up with a tank from Rock Valley for my application, it was an OEM style new replacement with in tank pump and swirl pot installed, so far has worked very well. I am sure they can convert any new tank in the same manner.

rotary works makes a fuel surge tank for $89.00

you can mount between tank and engine. the idea is install a high vol low press pump in tank (to your stock sender in your case) to feed the small tank, then another high pressure efi pump between the surge tank and engine.

If my existing tank needed replacement due to age/crud/leaks, i wouldnt go this route, id put the $ towards a new tank properly sumped and baffled.

compare the surge tank cost to the cost of getting a custom tank made or buying one from ricks or rock valley. take the price of a high pressure EFI pump out of the equation because either way, the injectors will need that to feed them. also take the cost of fuel lines out because swapping an EFI engine in place of a carb 'd engine requires adding more plumbing to your system or all new plumbing no matter what.

so you are left to buy 1 more HVLP electric pump and the surge tank. 90 for the surge tank and you could likely get the HVLP pump for less than 200.

what does a sumped and baffled tank for a musclecar cost anyway? lots of moving parts in this comparison.

Tanksinc.com check them out. This is what I run along with a corvette filter/regulator and that leaves just one line running up to the engine and the cost was around 250 ish, also comes with it's own sump that goes into the tank.

I am attempting to take a stock Durango pump and fit into a 67 tank. So far has been a pain in the arse and probably not worth it but I got the pump for free. If it fails to work properly I will probably go to tanks inc like you stated.

Zack,
Did you ever have any issues with fuel starvation during cornering or did that little "sump" work as intended?

Never any problems. I've put the car into some hard cornering and she just keeps going....kinda like a Timex, lol!!

LOL. Glad to hear it. Now for the bombshell question, when are you driving that beauty over here?

Can't say for sure as that would ruin the surprise, lol!!

Hello dude...Why you change the fuel tank its created some problem or in normal routine?I suggest to you if they damaged then you must changed other vise old tank is reliable compare to the new one..
