I have a 1969 Charger, and since I have had it I have been trying to find a reproduction of the buildsheet.
The major flaw in my slaw is that the fender tag is missing. I have done the following to seek further knowlege - looked through numerous postings of found buildsheets; posted same question on another Dodge fan site; contacted Chrystler Musuem. I have looked up Gavior (sorry spelling not my thing) and have even exchanged some e-mails with him but he just sent me info on how to decode a buildsheet. He always has a backlog and I would hate to pay alot to hear "sorry kid".

The car has been molested in the past so I am not sure if I could trust any serial #'s I may find. I am at the point where I have enough money saved for body work, but I would like to know what the original color was prior to committing to a color. Which leads me to my other question - does anyone know of a website that has a Charge body to test colors on?

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance for any replies.

so lemme get this straight, your fender tag is MIA, and your buildsheet is also MIA, and you're trying to figure out what your car's original color was?

pretty much you need to look in places that normally people don't worry about getting to while repainting, IE the inside of the trunk in the corners or wheel well, under the washers of certain bolts, hell, I found patches of the original beige on my Charger behind the horn and starter relays

as far as the website to test colors on... not that I know of, before I picked the color for my car, I went to the 'Nats and took pics of every color/wheel combo for my car that I could find (ya.. I know that's not very practical)

Here are some things I've come across. Use as general ref and when you decide on a general color do some google searches for images of cars painted that color and use the Mopar name and paint code in the search, like "FE5 Rally Red Road Runner" and see what you come up with. Then if you want bring your ideas to the forum and usually members will chime in with their own pics and advice

I've seen another one that you choose body, paint color, and wheels but I must not have saved it

as I said in your other thread. post up some pictures of the trunk and floor pan and anywhere else parts may have been hiding the original paint. if the car has been completely blasted , that another story. when you start two of the same threads , it starts to gets confusing

no fender tag
no build sheet
no info

you can only go by whats there

teh build sheet couold be under carpet, under the back seat, inside the front seats they stuck them in a lot of differnt places

That would be the one I search for, if you run across it please send it my way.
Thanks again

sorry I meant if you run across the site that lets you choose the body and try out colors again pleasee pass it on.
What is a 'Package Tray", I am green on that one.
Forgot to meantion that the underbelly and inner trunk is sprayed with black protecting coating.
I did find a guy in my town that has a 70 and he was going to show me alternate spots to look but I lost his number :angry1: I know he always go to the local car show every year so it will just be a matter of catching him
I am sure it is a greeen color but not sure which shade - I took it to a shop to get a quote and he said that it was a Ford green. I will look at some of the sugguested spots once it stops raining
Thanks again to all who replied.

Below is a paint chip chart for 1969 Dodge. I haven't run across a site where you can paste the different colors for the car/year to get a visual aid, but if I do I'll send you the link.
Another good place to find the original paint is on the interior metal side panels (under the vinyl interior panels & top metal trim panel), in the rear seat area under the quarter windows. Usually factory overspray in those areas as well. Good luck.

I've seen a site like that but I'll be damned if I can find it now. You could also choose from available wheels and change the angle of the car and contrast of the paint ... darker / lighter.

Pardon my ignorance but, if you don't have the fender tag or build sheet, and you can't tell what the original color was . Why does it matter ?

Here is the one I was talking about earlier http://tbcwheels.ridestyler.com/?mode=webtk

You can change front and rear ride height independently, color/hue/contrast, vantage point, wheels, etc.

Not a perfect tool but fun to check stuff out with

What my 70 looked like with torsion bars jacked up and air shocks with extenders when I bought it in 83 LOL

Bonfire there is another line of thought to your particular plight. You don't have the fender tag, you don't have the build sheet, it's your car, you could just paint it/option it the way you would order it. I'm definitely NOT putting down staying original at all but in your case it's something to consider. I don't know if you've mentioned elsewhere if it's a BB car or has some claim to fame I may be unaware of which could affect that decision though.

Oh they have a charger also ..

Just what I needed, another distraction on the compouter at work. I am already designing (playing with) several cars.
