I just purchased a new two piece interior carpet from legendary and noticed the rubber heel insert that is located under the pedals is not square to the seam. I measured from the edge and there's almost a 2 inch difference, 18" on one side and 16 1/4" on the other. The seam goes straight across the middle of the floor so that would mean the heel pad will be crooked, or does this have something to do with the hump? This is my first carpet install so I'm looking for some help. Thanks (the car has an automatic trans)

I just installed trim parts brand and it is the same way.No one makes anything good, its all crap.Hopefully yours fit better than mine over the hump area.Pretty sure i could have bought some shag at the local carpet store and made it fit better.

Quality control has gone to the dogs I guess...

You square up the heel pad to the floor...not the trailing edge to the floor pan. The edge will be under the seat where it can't be seen, so it doesn't really matter. It sould be fine.

I was wondering if it was done that way on purpose !! because the upper part of the tunnel has a much longer radius, needs more material, making the allusion of the pad is installed crooked & it would possibly be straight when, it's installed in the car... just spit-ballen' here...

It may striaghten out when you lay the carpet over the hump. Also you can use a heat gun to help it out.

The heat gun id ok but I found that a steamer works great. I got one of those little Shark steamer to clean around the kitchen and bath, boy it sucked for that. But one oa fhe attachments is a flat pad shaped much like a rear view mirror. With that you can press and steam then wait forthe backing on the carpet to cool. Then the carpet will really take and hold a shape following all the contours. This is on a loop carpet, no idea what it wpold do with a shag. Also where you cut the seat bolt and seat belt bolt holes if you take an old slodering iron and melt down the edges that will keep it from catching a thread and pulling up an ugly run across the carpet.
