318 from 2bbl to 4bbl

The carb link says "off road" and nothing about Marine which I may have missed on my phone. There are air filters that need no dinging. Wish I had a part number for you.
The Edelbrock spacer I mentioned above will fit any intake and it is a divided spacer.

Okay what I think I might try is either the adapter Rumblefish mentioned (Edelbrock 8715) or another one (Edelbrock 2692). Just wondering what kind of effect will having an open adapter to four holes have. Or does it not matter?

Sorry for any confusion. My 'marine' reference was to his manifold, not the carb.

And you are probably right about other filters/ housings working...if he's willing to put in the work to research it. I was adamant about not advertizing for anybody and found Spectre sold a nice chrome filter housing with no markings.

The `66 & `67 hoods set close to the filter housing to begin with. I raised everything using the 1" carb spacer, then lowered it 1 1/2" with the drop filter base plate. Because of the large drop, I had to add a 1/2" carb throat riser & put a dimple in the base plate to clear the electric choke. This basically put me back on par with the original height. I went with a 3" filter because I had read (somewhere) that closing up the flow into the carb to less than 1 1/2 inches would restrict the motor. Does it? I have no proof, but I didn't want to find out the hard way either.

In the end I am about 2 inches higher than stock...and the nut has a nice little hole worn in the insulation...but there is no metal-to-metal contact!

I would PM Gary Pavlovich and see if he has tried both and ask what the differences were. My guess is he has.

I sent him an e-mail yesterday but haven't heard back yet. Hopefully the address I have is still the correct one.

64 Belvedere with Weiand intake. It's a single plane so I added a Transdapt 1" phenolic 4-hole spacer. Used Summit's cheap 600cfm 4bbl with Lokar linkage. Liked the carb because of sight glass , both ends. Easy tuning. Started right up. If the smallest 4 bbl you can find is still too large for the cast iron intake, and there's enough metal to do it, you should be able to open the intake or find a tapered spacer.
Since it appears you are in RI, look for my wagon at one of the cruise nights.

Hey 64, which cruises do you go to? I haven't been to any yet this year. I've gone to the one at Cardi's and Oak Harbor. We always do the show at the pet shelter in Warwick and will again this year.
Heard back from Gary. He gave me the part number for an adapter I can use. Summit has it and I did a few searches on their site and it never came up. Oh well, hopefully this will solve this problem, so I can move on to the next one! Which will probably be the kickdown.

RI Mopar ( wagon owner )

Due to having a mild stroke in January my hobby time has been somewhat limited, however getting moving slowly again. My wagon is still in storage, just waiting for a nice day and a little help from my son to put the battery in and fire it up. I actually had it on Craigslist for a while when I thought my cruzin days we over. Anyways, enuff of that.
We normally do the Cruisin Bruce Pet Rescue show in Warwick in early June. Might be there.
I used Lokar linkage for both throttle and kickdown. However Bouchillon Performance also makes these parts. I think it's a matter of personal preference. If you review the Cruisin Bruce site ( DJ that does the cruises you mentioned ), under the business-related section, you should find a reference to Don Verity. He's located in Northern RI and does 99% of his work with Mopar, be they old hemis or polys. He can also do old TF work. ( He replaced seals, got my park lever to "park", and also added a deeper(2qt) trans pan. Just saying.
BTW - make sure you put good return springs on your setup. A main AND a backup.
