Anyone Have Any Experience For A Street Race What Hooks Better The BFG Or The Mickey Thompson Drag Radials.
Spring is here and I never know when a Chevelle will be next to me at a light
Being said the tire will be cold for the best guess
Car wont be going to the track thats what my Duster is for.
Just hate to get shut down MAN REALLY HATE IT over tracktion
Tire size will be a 275/60/15
The Mickey is more cash but it is what it is
We all know HOOK IS KING light to light
Thanks Guys

Hey Mike.

Don't you work at the tech center? I think we met when you first got your car.

Anyway, I run the MT ET streets in 275-60-15 and love them. My car hooks up great with them.

No comparison.

Te BFGs are trash compared to the M/T & they wear out quicker to boot.

You might want to try M& H Drag Radials,

Of the 3, that's what I ended up running.

M/T's by a long shot, plus they hold up better. If I looked really mean at my BFG's would melt!

Mike

the best I ever used were NITTO 555. I REGULARLY BEAT THE GUYS THAT HAD THE MT'S,ALTHOUGH THE MT'S ARE VERY SIMILAR

Nitto's are pretty awesome and FYI, they are going 155 a pop with free shipping from Discount tire right now!

How do I find Discount tire?...................MO

I wouldn't ever buy another BFG tire. Even on the 64 Valiant with a 273 they would not hold up and wear out within 10,000 to 15,000 miles. Forget the 68 GTX I was lucky to get 10,000 on them. I finally put on some Dunlop Radials on the GTX and the traction was pretty decent and the handling was great.

Thanks guys for steering me in the right direction.
6packMike I don't work at the Tech Center but I wish I did
I don't recall ever meeting because I surely would remember your car

ok. You have pretty much the same car then. I thought I met you at the Powertour meet in warren. I guess not. Are you in the Detroit area? Some friends and I just started a local car club called twisted axle car club. You can find us on facebook. Any other members in the Detroit area check us out. Have a good one.

How many miles did you get out of them?

I got about 3 good summers....speedo wasn't hooked up most of that so no miles...Lots of burn-outs and racing though..

While we are at it...how stiff are the side walls on the MT.....I really didn't like all the side wall shift with the drag ta....

I've had BFG DR's and they've always sucked for traction, for me anyway. MT E.T. Streets are barely legal and float (like any slick) at highway speeds, a little scary. But in town they're very sticky. MT SR (Street Radials) are suppose to be awesome. Does't Hoosier make a (near slick) street radial nowadays?

Anyone running a good traction 15" that hooks on the street but is also good at highway speeds? I have a friend who loves the Nitto 555's on his Cuda, but didn't ask him about highway driving.

I currently run MT sportsman S/T white letter tires similar to cooper cobras. They handle decent, but hard acceleration rear traction isn't the best.

Only a fair weather tire. Gets really scarey when the pavement gets wet, and I mean scarey. I remember having to drive the back streets at 20 - 30 MPH to keep the backend from breaking loose everytime you stepped on the gas.
A 30 minute drive from the drag strip ended up taking over 2 hours to get home and a lot of frayed nerves from fighting the car.

I run a Nitto NT-01 315-35-18 and its decent on the streets
