The bucket seats in my 66 Coronet are very springy. Is it that all I need is new foam? Or do i need to tie the springs together or???????????

Thanks
Ron

I thought springy was good. It's the old saggy, mushy seats that are worn out.

Or are you saying that the springs are poking through the fabric? :)

At least the foam, its probably deteriorated, but you'll have to check the springs and the frame once its apart. It may have detached or broken springs, you can replace them separately. Check the frame for any weak areas while its apart (rust, bent, detached, etc).

I may have not worded this correctly. When you sit on the seats they seem to bounce a lot and are not firm. I looked at them this morning and you are correct that the foam is bad. It allows the springs to sink into it quite a ways. They look original.
They are not original to the car and seem to be later model high back buckets. Maybe I will scour the junkyard and see what I can find that will be more suitable.

Thanks for the replys, it's appreciated.

Ron, don't forget to replace the burlap under the foam. You can get it at JoAnn fabrics.

Old seat design are nothing compared to the one we have in cars today. I love my SRT 10 seats. When I get in my 65 Impala which has new foam and covers it seens like I go to the flooor. Of course I weigh 240, and that is a lot for any 40 Years old seat to take.
