Ok I have a 1969 Plymouth Satellite with a 440 and a 727 Tranny. Currently I am trying to switch over from column shift to floor shift with an after market shifter. I have a bench seat in the front.

Here is my problem:

I got a B&M Star Shifter. But when I go to put it in there is only about 1/4" clearance from the shifter handle to the dash board. The seat is moved as far back as it will go and there is no room. But if I go to a shorter shifter I will be leaning over to shift the car.

So What are you guys running in your cars where you have clearance from the dash board. If you could show some pictures and what type of shifter you are using that would be great, or how you installed it with a bench seat.

Thank you for the help

Factory column shift for me or 4 speed. Your problem is the bench seat won't let you put the shifter in a good location.

The only problem with that is I do not have either one. If only I could find one.

I have in the past made my own shifter handle to accomodate my legs, that are always in the way of the shifter. Its pretty simple to do.

Thank you for your video, that helps. sent you a PM with some other questions.

What are your plans for the old column shift linkage...

Yah, I'm looking for the front rod and swivel assembly. The other pieces are still attached to my car. Never did I think I would be putting a column shift in a car. I'll do some research to see if the parts interchange from '69 to '70, but I would expect that they do. Think of a price and PM me.
