call & talk to them to make your order,the clips on the bottom to hold the glass are not availlable,now you use a little rubber block.

Thanks jetmech, jet mechanic? "Jealous" please don't be, I've had this car 10 yrs and only started "really" working on it two years ago. It wouldn't surprise me if you still beat me done. "GTX" awesome car.

Another question, I am going to try to salvage as much glass as I can and saw they have buffing kits, anybody done this, how's it work? The retards that had this car blasted it with windows mirrors and all still installed, they even primed over some of it "retards". I'm not using them, I saved the glass out of a RR, luckily they didn't ruin my rear window.
 
Eastwood has a buffing kit for windows it works pretty well, sorry I don't remember the name or part #, I haven't use it for a couple years now either, but I did on my other 68 RR that I sold a few years back, you really need to have a good variable speed low RPM buffer & several different sizes/styles of buffing discs/pads to get all the glass really good, their kit is pretty basic & it will work with a variable speed drill.... they won't look like new, but will get most of the water spotting, chemicals or very minor nicks, pits & scratches, that aren't very deep out pretty well... It was worth the $50-60 I spent on the kit a while ago...

What a great weekend, beautiful weather, Mopar Nats and then spent the day with the family at Cedar Point. My daughter is nuts, she's 48" tall which means "rollercoasters" she road the "Magnum" (used to be the BIGGEST in the world). At that age I would have **** my pants, she worries me. It was a great day of fun finally getting to ride some bigger rides with her and getting drenched on the water rides.:headbang: Work on the Charger wasn't so great, nothing went smooth or easy but I got her back together. Anybody ever test your spark on a 6AL box, those thing are flame throwers. I was priming my pump so I just spun the distributer with the coil wire about a 1/4" away from the block "Wow". Anyways, I fired it up today and it sounds great but will do the full breakin tomorrow (to fumy to run it in the garage) had planned on doing it today but couldn't stand breathing all the fumes. Tomorrow I'll have it outside where I can tune in the carb while breaking the cam in, seams to have no trouble staying cool now and idles nicely. Keeping my fingures crossed, maybe I can begin going forward again.

You don't have to break in roller cams but do have to break in any flat tappet.

:hello2: Happy, Happy, Break in went very well with only a few minor issues that were quickly dealt with with only one left to resolve. It sure was a great feeling to sit the seat and DRIVE it outside under it's own power "leaving little burn outs everytime I poked the peddle" (don't worry I'm not hot rodding it, only fluctuating the rpm's to 2,500 just like they say). First issue as embarrasing as it is "I ran out of gas" (only been putting small amounts in because I don't know how long it will be in there). Second, it climbed up to 200 degrees, must have had trapped air because it took a gallon to top it off "stayed at 165 after that. Third, the power steering box is leaking out of the lock nut. I am impressed with all the attention to detal you're putting in your car. Definitely got some cool points with the mufflers. I can't wait to hear the sound clip.
I know the feeling about the wife, my GF hates my car also. I think they feel threatened.

I'm sorry if it seamed like I was throwing a pitty party "not my intentions" just thought maybe you guys could get some humor out my misfortunes. I think your right about the longer strips seeing how those are from just poking the peddle but then again the tires are crap. Thanks Speedy

While it was apart my dad welded up all the multiple bolt holes in the water neck and then cut the excess aluminum off, not sure if I like the cast iron grey (same color as the motor) might repaint it aluminum. I figured I'd show what I used for my break in seeing how when I removed the first cam it looked great as well as the lifters. Figured out the power steering leak today now just have to resolve what I think might be an ignition switch problem. It's been doing it off and on, sometimes while cranking it it won't even try to start but as soon as you let go of the ignition it will fire as the starter disengages. I believe the run function of the switch may not be working in the start position making it fire as you let off but that will take two people to test. The plan this weekend is to finish the tips and get it wet sanded then drive it to the house for a bath, I'm waiting on the rump stripe for masking it off and then I'll be ready for paint. Started digging through my parts between the 68 RR and the Charger it looks like I have all of the glass I need but the windshield has a nasty scratch so I may not use it (the idiots that had this car blasted it with the door windows in it "good thing I saved the RR windows"). Also figured out what I'm using for headlight door openers (Ford 4X4 vacuum solenoids) they used two on an already made bracket and are readily available. Before you complain about FORD PARTS understand that I can't find a Mopar part to do it and the Ford ones have MADE IN THE USA cast right in them which to me is the important part. Almost forgot, what can I do to get this alt belt to stop squealing? It only does it while charging and then stops, I'm afraid with a 100 amp alt I'll have to change my pulley setup to two belts on the alt, any suggestions? Unfortunetly with my setup the power steering pump uses the other groove needed for a second alt belt.
