Hello, i am new to the forum but have been a long time Chrysler enthusiast. I have a 1969 roadrunner that i need to find a replacement 383 block for. I am trying to match the build date as close as possible, B05 (November 1968) Does anyone know what 383 engine stamp would be correct for this B05 build date? Not sure if E383 would be right, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Any engine build pior to nov. so a sept. build date would be,good. It will show a,different vin which will be on the engine pad. I have a friend of mine may have an engine for you not sure. He as well as I live about 20 min. East of GR.

1969 motors have the date cast on the driver side of the block.

If it is a 1969 roadrunner the build date would be Nov.5 1968. A build date of Nov.5th 1969 would be for the 1970 year model.
As for the engine stamp E 383 HP would be the correct stamping. E for 69 year model 383 for cubic inch and the HP stamp for high performance application. Hope that helps.
Matt

Thanks guys, its been a while since i had to decode stuff like this. Much appreciated.

I have 2 E383HP Motors. One is just a block dated 3/17/69 and is available now for sale. The the one is currently running in my 70 Road Runner and i am unsure of the date of it. That one won't be available for a while until i get my F383HP redone. PM me if you are interested in the block
