Hey all,

Thought I would post a bit about my project here. I am restoring my Dad's 63 Sport Fury. He had the car from sometime in the 70's until he gave it to me a couple years ago after being diagnosed with cancer. Sadly, he passed away this June, so my brothers and I are doing what he always dreamed of with the "Beast" (that is what we called it as kids). We have had the Beast media blasted and epoxy primed.

Sad to hear about your father. I lost my dad 3 years ago.
I now have his 63 Dodge 330 max wedge. I did get to help him restore it in the 90's.
Keep up the good work and post lots of pics.
 
Nice car, the truth is you guys are doing a great thing and nothing is more rewarding than memories. good luck I bet your dad is looking down and saying what a great family he had.

Ya he did. The guy that blasted it was amazed at the shape it was in. It had a stock poly 318 in it. I had it bored .30 over, bigger cam, Weiand 4 barrel intake, and I will be adding TTI headers. It has a 4 speed transmission that is a blast to drive. I used to drive the Beast in high school and have been itching to drive it again for years.

Looks like your dad had the fore sight to see what that car was. Not many would get that kind of a car back then. Glad to see/hear you are bringing it back. Your dad looks like a cool guy in the photo and i'm sure he is very proud of you right now.

Hey everyone,

So I'm pretty excited....my car is going to the body shop this friday. When I get the Beast back she will be all painted and looking great. I decided to go with the original color, Coppertone Poly. When my dad bought the Beast back in the 70's it had been painted red. I can't wait to see it!!!!

I do have a rookie question. What do I do next? When I get the painted car back do I install electrical, or the engine, or something else first? I'm thinking engine, electrical, interior...??? That seems to make sense to me, but I don't want to create problems for myself.

As always any input is appreciated.
 
JMO, I would do the engine first. Make sure you cover the fenders and rad support with good thick blankets. then run your wires wherever you need to. Then maybe installing your headliner first, then whatever you have to do with your dash. you'll have more room to work underneath your dash without the seats. Carpet, door panels, seats.

Restoring it, building it i hope you did have the underside blasted im just sayin, thats where the worse rust issues would be and be much easier to repair, It really does sound like your itching to get into it and i hope you have fun doing it! Its a great thing for your dads memory to build this, brothers helping and im sure he would be proud of you all! Have fun and enjoy the build and the ride when your thru...
