A childhood friend is dying

We are about 4 couples who have known each other since grade school. We hung around together with some other kids and eventually got married. One of the women is now 65. Up until a week ago, she was in perfect health other than the fact she thought she had pneumonia.

She was on medication but wasn't getting better so her husband took her to the emergency. They discovered she has advanced lung cancer even though she hadn't smoked since her early twenties. While in the emergency, she suffered 2 heart failures but they managed to save her. One of her lungs was collapsed. They drained it but it will not re-inflate.

For the past week, she has been in an induced coma on a ventilator. She will be like that for another week but the prognosis is not good. We are all in shock.

Enjoy life while you can.
 
I'm so sorry to hear that, I've lost quite a few of my childhood friends & it's really tough... I hope she gets well soon... My best well wishes, goes out to her & her family & all her friends...

My sympathy to yours and the family.

Gee, life is much like:

"It's winter before we know it...time has a way of moving quickly and catching you (us) unaware of the passing years..."

So, be good to family, friends and loved ones because the next goodbye could very well be the last..
 
Difficult time. All the best to her and hers. Wife went to HS Prom - two couples. Other three all have passed.

There's the kicker. None of us know what is going to happen. Sometimes we worry too much about what might happen. I've lost a few friends to sudden deaths. None expected, none wanted. I think it's time for all of us to say, let's enjoy life... we don't know when it will end. Don't postpone building that car, don't postpone getting into a relationship... Don't postpone. Life is good, life is precious, life is to be lived. Live it.
 
Sorry to hear about your friend. Things do happen quickly at times. God bless. I have a very close friend who's brother is in just about the same boat. Pneumonia w a sepsis (spelling) infection. On a ventilator. They called in a priest for last rights yesterday. Why did I bring this up? He was in perfect health a week ago... then got a flu shot. Draw your own conclusion..........
 
Wow, really sorry to hear this and hope she can pull out of it.

I've lost some people in my circle recently. All we can do is pray for them.
 
I experienced cancer 14 years ago myself, 2 times. It was devastating, my kids where small, I had to come home and tell my wife and kids. I got lucky, many others being treated where not so lucky. I see people in my car club, getting old passing away then another and another. Wow I see how fast time goes by. Don't stay mad, enjoy what you have, hold no grudges. Time really goes by very fast. Hug your kids, wife and friends. Life is sweet, quick and flashes by.
 
Sorry to hear this. We just don't know when our time will come. I hope she is not suffering.
I have always believed, Live like today is your last.
Meaning......"Only put off today, that which you will not regret not being able to do tomorrow."
And everyday I think of things I should have done or people I should have talked with......
 
I've lost several childhood friends. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and to you in hopes that she will recover.

When you really think about it, the only important things in this life are family and friends. The rest of the stuff that we worry about so much isn't as important as we think. Our thoughts and prayers to your good friend.
