i need creative advice on my firewall

so...my ignition module heated up and the "jelly" ran down the firewall and dried.
there are 2 drip lines down about 8 inches. How can I remove this w/out ruining the paint on the firewall?
any suggestions?

Heat gun to soften it?
Plastic squeegee to take it up?

Mine did this it just peeled right off, maybe I got lucky! Plus I had some leftover rattle can sublime paint I did my engine bay with so if I had to repaint any damage I wasn't worried. I would try what others have recommended first!
