Guys I need some help, I'm not sure if I should stick with the original 318 on my 66 satellite or get a 383, either way ima stroke it out.

BB.....66 satellites are like the 66 coronet..not alot of attraction unless an original hemi car...I love them..have a 67....why not go 440ci instead of 383

My 1966 Satellite was originally equipped with a 318 SB and the SB 727. When I pulled it out of the Desert South of Reno NV over 8 years ago, I had a 383 BB and BB 727 so I naturally went with that set up as the original Heart was long gone. Most here are really right on when they say keep the 318 SB as they can be built up to perform just as well as a BB. X Heads are a must though and as I understand the market now are quite hard to come by. But for me...I am partial to the 383's as they actually rev higher and in some case with the right combinations will out run the Torque Monster 400's and 440's. I thought about stroking my 383 but went with a performance build and couldn't be happier. I do have a 440 block stashed away for another project or maybe this one but right now, I am sticking with the 383. If you do switch out the motor, my vote is for a 383 Stroker using the 440 Source parts. Great kits and great pricing...my 2 cents...cr8crshr/Tuck:blob1::blob1::blob1::blob1::blob1::blob1::blob1::blob1::blob1::blob1::blob1::blob1::blob1:

Danm!!!! thanks guys. keep it coming, i would really like a 426 HEMI, but as we kno, they are rare :( now ive been told the 318s and 383s are alot easier to get. Now the 383 has power especially when all stroked out, but again i wana keep it original and well they offering me a 318 with 727 trans for $450, but the motor does need to get rebuilt. im planning to rebuilt any motor i end up getting anyways. Still thinking about it.

Those 318 polys do look real sick, and would for sure get people wondering " WTF is that??" lol pretty cool it will get attention.

If you are looking for bang for the buck go with the 383. If you want to be different go with the poly 318. Both will get you where you need to go reliably.

Not to dispair, 426 Hemi's aren't rare at all, they're still being made. Just bring an equal amount of gold and drop by your local Mopar dealer...
