So thing were winding down on the 73 and i have been working some details.

When I installed the tires I saw that the center caps looked a little rough.

I had some 74 caps that were pretty new but the finish was coming off.

I had some textured silver paint that I was using as a test on some headlight surround for another car that came out very similar to Chrysler argent for the caps in color but with a little more texture.

Heres the finish product... I thought you guys might want to follow along as I did the original 73 caps.

Here are the original 73 caps. As you can see, they have some pitting and paint issues and are showing their 40 years of wear. But al least no one ever tried to pry them off and ruined there edges. Note to self.. Never use your wife's laundry detail brush for parts cleaning....

Here they are after some sanding mainly to scuff up the paint and sooth out the pitting.

Heres the paint I got from Home Depot... $5.79 a can. The lacquer thinner I used to remove the overspray with some shop towels.

Go slow here or you'll end up taking too much off where you want to keep it. The hardest part is the center acorn. The paint originally went to the edge is the acorn and its very easy to take off the little step just below..

Here's is the finished caps ready to go back on...... Good luck if you try it yourself.
