Wrong Rear End?

From what I can find, The 8-1/4 Rear/Axle was not available in 1970. Is this correct?

My '70 Sport Satellite seems to have one.

Is it safe to assume this is not original to My Car?

I would think that a Sport Satellite would have not come with an 8 1/4 but it would depend on drive line options. A low otion car might have the smaller rear and I too am finding sites that say it started showing up in 69 but seems like I remember seeing 69's with that style axle.....

According to FSM 8.25 rear was standard with 318 ci, Page 16-9 and 16-10

Alright thanks guys.
I do have the 318/904 (Not very "Sporty" compared to other options, If you ask me...)

The site I posted was misleading me.
And also part of me wanted an excuse to upgrade. :icon_wink:
