I bought this 1969 Belvedere from the original owner in my home town. The title was the original issued in 1969. The car had not been on the road since 1988-off road for over 20 years. It was ordered with 383, automatic transmission, and 2.76 Sure Grip 8 ¾ rear end. Air conditioning was added by the dealer. Apparently very few people ordered Belvederes with the 383 (biggest available for that model) as it is one of just 33 1969 Belvederes ordered with the 383. It has its original numbers matching engine and transmission, which have never been out of the car. It is an original 2 barrel car but I will include a period correct 4 barrel intake that I bought, stripped, and painted. Since purchasing the car from the original owner, I have flushed the fuel tank and fuel line and replaced the in tank filter, inline fuel filter, fuel pump, spark plugs, spark plug wires, cap, points, condenser, valve cover gaskets, valley pan gasket, and exhaust gaskets. I also had the carburetor rebuilt. I rebuilt the brakes by replacing the master cylinder, all four wheel slave cylinders, brake pads, right front hard brake line, and right front soft fuel brake line. I had the radiator hot tanked and repainted and I replaced the thermostat, water pump and water pump housing. I stripped and repainted the water pump/pump housing, valve covers, intake, and air cleaner housing. The paint is at least 25 years old but I was very surprised how nicely it cleaned up. It is a good complete driver. The quarters have some small rust spots coming through and the floor has some rust issues. The trunk is quite solid with some small rust in the middle of the trunk pan in the lowest valleys where water sat. There are typical dings and scratches as would be expected from a car this old. Some old filler is cracked on the right quarter-it is a repaint that was done in the late 70's or early 80's. All the glass is good and windows work as they should. The exhaust is complete and quite-with no leaks, which is surprising. The air conditioning and windshield wipers don’t work. The tires are fine for running around town but they could use replacing. You can have your choice of the Mopar road wheels pictured or the original body colored steel wheels and hub caps. I just use this car as a run around town car and it has been a blast to drive. However, I have 5 cars (3 Mopars) and need to thin the herd. I have a clean Kansas title in my name and the Broadcast sheet (which is now laminated to preserve it). Fender tag is still in place on the fender. Email me for more pictures. $6800 obo. Thanks!

Funny you should ask. I have the original check dated 4-19-69 that is punched by the bank. The total was $2788.63.

Funny you should ask. I have the original check written to Resnik Motors of Whitewater, Ks. The check was punched and returned to the original owner. Grand total was $2788.63!

Did you get a buyer on ebay?

Cool car - a good buy for someone, in my opinion. Your Cuda came a long way between those two pics! :)

I haven't tried eBay yet. Perhaps that was a similar car? I have posted in on the Wichita CL.

Unfortunately the sequence of the Cuda progress is reversed! It is now a bare shell. I have cut out front/rear floorpans am now cutting the trunk floor/quarters out. I didn't mean to go this far......

Hello, my name is Dan and I just registered here because I saw this thread and wanted to ask you some questions about the belvedere. First off, sorry to see that you sold it. I have a B5 blue 1969 belvedere 2-door sedan with the numbers matching HP383 4-barrell engine, 4 speed trans, and 323 suregrip rear end. I was told that by the person I bought it from that it was in the low 30's production numbers wise. How did you find out that there were only 33 built with 383's? I know its a rare car but wanted to find out exactly how rare. Your asking price also seemed a little low, I've been offered 20k for mine, but maybe that's because mine is the HP383. Any info you have on these cars would be appreciated. If you would like I could get some pitures to post.

Pictures would be great. I love b5 blue on any b or e body! If you were offered $20k for an unrestored Belvedere, that's quite good. There are many roadrunners that don't sell for anywhere near $20k.

I was told those numbers by several on this board although I cannot remember who. I don't know where the numbers came from buy I do know that the 383 was rare in the 69 belvedere.

I have a 69 Belvedere 383 HP car with A31 performance axle package. I sent you a PM.

1969 Belvedere 383 HP A31 performance axle package 1 of 18

Maybe the only 383 hp with A31 axle package. Its rough but rare and worthy of a resto. The restoration has begun already.

Here is the only pic of my belvedere that I currently have. I will get more next time I'm around the car. I can also take a pic of the fender tag and build sheet so you guys can decode it if you would like.

This pic was taken a few winters ago. We rarely get snow here (foothills of NOR-CAL) but in 1 day we got 6 inches so I parked the car between the house and garage to prevent falling tree limbs from smashing it. It runs good but the clutch slips so it doesn't drive too well. I pulled the heads and rebuilt them myself about 6 years ago. Before the clutch started to slip it was actually faster than my 69 roadrunner automatic.

Side note...one neat thing I remember seeing on the build sheet was that my car came with factory redline tires on body colored steel wheels because the HP 383 was a special option. Does anyone know if all 383 bels came with redlines or just the HP 383 bels? Obviouls it has the standard five slot mags on it, but when I went to look at the car originally it still had the factory original spare wheel in the trunk that was b5 blue and it had the original redline tire on it. When I went to pick up the car it was gone and the POS seller said his son popped it with an ice pick so he threw it away. I knew he was lying to me because he would not help me track down the wheel even though he said he had a tire shop discard it the day before.

Awesome car! My build sheet for my Belvedere shows that it had 7.75-14 bsw tires on it. Really crazy for a 383 hp car with a 3.91 gear. I have been told by many knowledgeable people that the Belvedere was not suppose to be available with the A31 axle package. The build sheet says "special order" at the bottom.

The 383 would not have been a 'special option' for a Belvedere. It would have been readily available. It would only be an HP engine if the car has a four speed. If it's an automatic or had A/C, then it would have been the regular 330 horse.

F70 redlines would have also been readily available on a Belvedere IF the car had the upgraded suspension or brakes.

My car is without a doubt an HP car as the H in the fifth digit indicates and the build sheet also indicates. Not sure where you are getting your info.

It is often and commonly reported in numerous publications and web sources that the H code stands for HP. It is also incorrect. The H VIN code (an administrative code) and E63 (The sales code) only tell you that the car was a 383-4bbl. It does not tell you WHICH 383-4bbl came in the car nor the horsepower rating.

There's the A body 383-4, the B and C body 383-4 and the B body 383-4 HP 335 horse. Which variant the 69 B body received depended on the application. ALL 69 B body 383-4bbl four speed cars without A/C would (should have...for the absolutists) have received the orange 335 horse. This includes Belvederes, Coronets, Chargers as well as the Super Bee and Road Runner. B bodies with A/C and either transmission or Belvedere, Coronet and Chargers with automatics got the turquoise 330 horse.

The only way to prove which engine actually came in the car is the engine assembly code on the broadcast sheet OR on the fender tag of a car from the Lynch Road plant. The only possible 383-4bbl HP in a Belvedere, Coronet or Charger would have to be the 925 assembly.

Which cars actually received the 335 horse engine varied by year and application. 1968 and 1970 are different.

You are correct about the automatic and ac cars having the 330 horse 383. The 383 330 horse engine IS an HP engine (5 hp difference give me a break) so are you telling me that a 69 road runner equipped with air conditioning did not have an HP engine??? I think that Plymouth's sales and marketing team would have a different opinion.
