Jay Leno just came by our shop

Chris Titus and Tim Allen are both customers of ours. Chris comes in himself...Tim has people that drop stuff off....Jay is waaay more of a car guy than either though...Jay actually gets his hands dirty.
It would be cool, to talk/post with either of them here... True car guys, are just that, "car guys", no matter how famous or rich they are... I once heard Jay Leno say, the reason why he got into stand up comedy or show business, "was to be able to afford & drive the cool cars" & it just escalated from there... Comedians, Tim Allen & Christopher Titus are big-time car guys too...

I was just talking with an older friend of mine (92 year old actually) and he he started talking about Yenko stingers and Don building them in the 60's. Well my friend was Frank Yenko's (Don's dad) partner from 1934-1958 when Yenko chevy was here in Bentleyville, Pa. My friend bought Frank out in 58 and it became Bogdewic chevy and he had Don living in his apartment and working for him in Bentleyville. He talked about Don racing, all his "lady friends", and helping him and his dad out in the Canonsburgh dealership. He mentioned jokingly that Don kept "them damn corvair hoods at his apartment building, and he wanted Don to move them." Talked for about and hour about Durants, yenkos, and selling chevys for 75 years. I would like to somehow email Mr. Leno and let him know this stuff because he would probably like to hear things like this.

Message me your email address and phone number and I'll give it to Jay.

What a totally cool thread! It sounds like you not only have fun at work there mister dodge41969 but truly love what you do, and that means a lot in my book. I've got a couple customers people have probably heard of but having a serious car guy like Jay or Danny on board would be awesome ... I have the feeling you walk around smiling all day at work too. :D

Yes it is a great place to work at for sure....you never know who's gonna walk thru the door. I mostly restore 911, 912 & 914 Porsche gauges, but also do some American gauges/clusters as well...having worked at Red Line Gauge Works too. Message me if you need any work done or have any questions.

Leno is cool dude. Glad he's in the position he is. Retired and happy. Love his collection. Could only wish to have his situation in terms of storage and mechanics.

Jay finally learned about fender covers and belt buckles..
Tim is a car guy but doesn't seem to employ car people to help him.
Everything I have heard about Chris is that he is a cool guy..

Gotta love old school Porsche's..

AWESOME POST, I met dana white and we talked cars for 45 minutes, almost as cool as talking guns and motorcycles with BROCK LESNAR!!!!! Also met John Staluppi at the museum, he let me slide under a custom vicki that was there, they frenched' in the steel floor boards front and rear with lowered fenders (not lowered but they made the fender longer to look lower) on the car, and from the top you couldnt see how it was done, they brought over a jack and and creeper, I took pictures and later did it for myself, they had cnc'd aluminum brackets bolted in, BUT I dont have a cnc and would rather have the pieces welded in so I fabbed it with steel and welded it in, came really nice, obviously the aluminum pieces look better underneath, but it worked...

ANYWAY, awesome shop, its cool to work for famous people, then it makes the normal be able to say "yah the guy that did my gauges does all jay lenos stuff", lol. We do work for some red sox, patriots, a BUNCH of local politicians (keep that to myself in most cases, lol), a couple arrow smith members in the past :) , but my favorite one to tell people about it the owner of a few local d&d's, his house is well known in the area, no one knows who he is but they all know the house, over 12K sq feet not counting the detached buildings, and garages, 2 swimming pools (i outside 1 inside), tennis court, basket ball court, volley ball court, pool house with 800 sq foot gym, another gym in the house, 800 sq foot commercial kitchen, 32 foot ceilings in their formal parlor, JUST insane he told me all the buildings add up to around 21K sq feet, he has a detached 12 car garage, 2K sq foot guest house, 2K sq foot pool house.
I did all of the hvac, sprinkler systems, and plumbed/wired all of the pool, hot tubs, out door gas fire pits, gas lights, etc etc etc The job was almost a half million dollars and he bought everything except the HVAC materials!!!
When I tell people I do the work at that house, they don't seem to worry about if I do good work, lol...

I am sure them pictures on your office wall have similar effects, good for you, I wish you were closer... Or rather I wish I was closer to you, its cold here..

A friend of mine does much of the painting and paint formulation for Leno's collection. Very talented paint and body man. Stephan is flippin' amazing, really!

did I miss the old porsche in this thread? I had taken a pair of 1970 porsches in trade for a chevelle a while back, a 914 and a 911, both restored. They were fun to drive, I sold them to a guy out of florida shortly after...

Jay should be President, then maybe we would get some real gas around here.
