Just curious, did the hood stanchions come with the car or is it something the owners made. I worked for Maw Mopar in the late sixties and seventies and I don't remember ever seeing them from the factory. However, I've been told they were an option. I've seen some that look like aluminum tubing, some stainless steel, 1/2" dia. to 1.5" dia., some 16" all the way to 2'-3' tall.

Owners began making them in the 90's when shows really started to take off. They are a pain in the butt. You need two people, but they are way better than setting the hood on the roof of your freshly painted car.

Thanks. We never got an A12 at the dealer in Brownfield and only two at the dealer in Abilene. I never saw them or found them in the cars or listed as an option. I 'm working on a 69 1/2 and the owner wants them. I guess I'll buy some 1 1/4" aluminum stock and drill and tap. I'm thinking about 20" long?

I think mine are 18" but I'm not 100% sure.

Guess you gotta be a member to view. If you find a name or number of the guy that sells the stands, could you shoot me a copy?

Guy's name is Paul Petcou. He lives in Michigan... I will pm you his number.

Someone should invent a scissor hood raiser. It should work on hydraulics.
