Building my Superbird....

This is awesome,

I think you should record some videos with the techniques specially to this forum people, I'm so impressed with your job, keep posting more pics.

Thanks

very nice build and thanks for sharing some very good talent there

Thank you!
The Bird's on standby for now...making several 18 gauge steel Daytona nosecones for people..using a top quality ' glass cone as a template.-

Made steel strip curvature templates off the sides of the ' glass cones to use here. No bondo will be needed on this - smooth as glass.
Daytona nosecone corners have less curvature than the birds so slightly easier to shape the metal...although 18 gauge is no walk in the park.

All I can add is wow - what talent.

Also offering aluminum cast Daytona fender scoops.....and for Superbird too.

looks like its coming along smoothly! Have you decided how to operate the AG setup yet? I'm looking into servos but know very little on the subject
My thoughts on controlling superbird headlights was to use 12v linear actuators. Seems very simple and they're offered in many different strokes. You could probably adapt one to run the AG hood as well.

getting in late but sweet bird !! O and the works top notch to very nice :headbang:

You have crazy skills, that's craftsmanship at its finest

DSCN6129.jpgVery nice Don. When I build my bird there wasn't anyone making the metal parts. I used Janak which was about the best offered. It was over 9K shipped for the kit. And still had to do a bunch of tweaking to get it right. Even at that I had put around 50K in my car making it as close to right as I could. I wouldn't have ever made it with out a great deal of help from Tom Ferry. Another great authority on the wing cars.DSCN1755.jpg

Don what is a wing like yours worth? Mine is an older build but at some point if I can afford to I would like to re-do the car and metal would sure be nice. Also thinking of a modern hemi instead of my 440hp later on. Depends on how it works out in my charger. Oh and money lmao!

Thanks for the comments all. Hard work making these parts. I don't do it very often. My bird clone is 4 sale soon. Too many projects.
Tom Ferry also helped me out early on when he lived in LA and owned his blackbird - Nice Bird there. My steel wing is 3k.

Nice work! So do you use templates for all your parts ? Like those fenders?

Yes, either a template or original part or 'glass reproduction...if its accurate.

Hi DonC..

I am very much interested in purchasing your nosecones, please contact me through PM

Amazing....Thanks !!

Need Help. Pics Attached from Sarnia Ontario. Guy claims his Daytona is a 70... I know no 70's were made by factory. Anybody recognize the car. Claim he found it in Southern Cali. Fender tag pic also. He claims to be putting a Viper drive train in it.

By default of the SPD of 610 ( June 10th ), this is a Daytona. All '69 C500's were built before Jan. 1969, hence will have no later than a C** SPD and with that, all Daytonas were built AFTER Jan. 01, 1969. This example is a Daytona with the A47 SE package, hence the "SE" badging on the roof pillar and woodgrain dash. Looks to be missing two important items; wind deflectors and rear window trim.....

Don, how's it been going? Very impressed with your handy work there.... Based on my assessment of the window plug after I pull the vinyl, I'll get with you on the need for a window plug. I am sure it is always better to fix the original...
