I had my 1967 Hemi GTX out for a short ride and to get some gas. Several guys came over to admire the car and talk. I told them it was the first year for the GTX and only 720 went out the door with a Hemi, making it a quite rare car. One guy piped up that he knows two cars and they are not that rare. I just smiled, put the hood down, and drove away.

Yup...seems like everyone that doesn't have one is an expert on it...and most of them think a Challenger is a Camaro.

I always go the other route, I always , just down play the car. I'm not lifting the hood at a gas station for a bunch of Douche bags either.

Friggin critics eh..... Got to love the toppers out there. Always bigger/badder or have a dozen floating around.

I just let talk then laugh when I`m walking away its not worth my time , there's always the guys that no more Its not worth it .

I tend to down play the situation too. I figure why cast your pearls before swine.
Now if there's a child there and wants to ask questions or see under the hood I'll bend over backwards for them. You gotta love kid's enthusiasm and honesty!

Same here. Just before the snow flew here, I took the 73 out to put gas in it and stopped at the store on the way home. A fellow and his young son walked by and I could tell the young boy was mezmorized by the car ... WOW, he says. Look Dad!
So I asked if he would like to sit in it and that made his day!
The father thanked me over and over.
Made me feel good to.

You took the time to talk to em and even pop the hood and all they could do in return is be a jerk. Shame.

At least he didn't ask why you GTO name plate was mis-spelled. LOL

" I had one just like it except it was a different year, different model with a different engine but it was just like it".

if you look at the number of '67 GTX'S built, let alone a hemi, they are a big deal. got a pic?

Such people are everywhere now it seems, they are not rare at all and have little value...

Ah yes, jealousy rears it's ugly head once again!

I wonder which part of 720 he didn't understand. I had a 69 300 and they made 16+ thousand of those and I couldn't tell you where ONE of em is, much less two.

Some people just HAVE to be dicks. It's thier nature.

YUP . . . I think you nailed that right on the head ( he couldn't stand for you to have something better than him )

Take pride in that beautiful ride and ignore the idiots . . . all you can do.

Thank you guys! You are great for the support. I very rarely even tell folks I have the car. I just smile when I look at it and listen to that motor! You may have noticed the steering wheel. It is really not correct. It is for a 1966, but looks great. I have found several correct "recall" woodgrain wheels, but I don't want one so badly that I am going to pay $1600 or more for one. The ones I have located are not show quality. The steering wheel restorers have told me that the spokes cannot be re-chromed because of the material under the chrome. It will destroy the spoke apparently, so if you find one, it is what you get condition wise. On the other hand, the one on the car now is perfect.
