i have a 71 charger r/t with 4 wheel drum. im looking to convert the front to disk because id like to be able to stop comfortably at the track. i have heard that the whole front brake set ups off older fifth avs and diplomats, ect will bolt right and work....has anyone done this or heard of it? i know i can buy kits from places but they are big money. i know either way i will need to get a prop valve. any insight on this would be appreciated....thanks

you might want to look at some of the pee-assembled kits again.

if you go scavenging for parts from a donor car. you will still need to buy new: rotors (dont want someone elses warped issues) new pads, new flex lines. new bearings. by the time you do all this your pretty much the same price as some of the kits available now that use all stock parts. Now if you were talking Willwood or something YES very pricey.

If you aren't going under 12 seconds and if your brakes are working properly I wouldn't even bother with disc brakes. Just think about all the old drag racers that ran the strip and didn't have disc brakes. Just my 2 cents worth.
