Heads up to anyone looking to install TTI headers on a Mopar big block with 11" flywheel- I discovered that the mini starter sold be RobbMc performance (recommended by TTI) no longer clears the header because the dimensions changed on the starter. Even though the starter is adjustable, the header pipe hits the bottom of the starter!

What a struggle this has been trying to get the header to fit on the drivers side of my '69 Coronet. I had another mini starter installed- that one hit the side of the header. I then spent $300 on the mini mini RobbMc starter and that one hit on the bottom. The coated headers have been in and out so many times, they now have scratches. I forgot how much fun headers can be!

Do you know when RobbMc changed the starter dimensions... I would contact them and explain the situation... see if they have any old stock to exchange.

I have a FULL SIZE starter in my 67 with TTI headers......
From time to time I see posts regarding MINI Starters and TTI Header issues... Is it the MINI starter being the issue? Maybe in some spots its not so MINI???....

I have always used Powermaster starters with no issues, they are clockable and always work for my builds.

Same, run full size on 70 383 with no fitment issues or heat issues for that matter. I will freely admit though that replacing the full size starter is a royal PITA if it does die.

Yep,,, it sucked getting my hands and tools in place to install the darn thing! But it does fit in place nicely......

The previous starter was # 2005 and the TTI header was designed around those dimensions. The starter that RobbMc carries now is #3005 and it is shorter but the diameter was increased 3/8". That's why it bottoms out. My son and I removed it and the header. We dented the header and then reinstalled everything. About two additional hours of work. I just wanted to give everyone a heads up since TTI did not know the starter dimensions changed. Happy Holidays everyone!

Great to know......
Thank you for sharing the info.... Hopefully others can learn from your findings.....

Have you tried one of the Dodge Dakota V-8 starters? These were mini from the factory, and have the torque to turn a big-block stroker.
