I was wondering if anyone was running an 833 behind a 5.7/6.1 in a B-Body? I have a 74 E-body 10.5" bell housing, clutch pedal, trans, shifter with linkages and a z bar. Still missing a few parts but you get the picture

I'm wondering about tti header clearance with the clutch linkages more than anything.

I know that the pilot bearing has to be installed in the crank and the input shaft has to be trimmed .75". But what else is there to it?

Check over on fabo, those guys got it figured out!!

Oh yeah. I follow the hemi swap forum over there too. Tons of good info. I was just curious to hear from the b body folks.

I'm curious why you would want to

The short answer is because I can.

The long answer is because I want a manual trans without cutting the floor up or having to deal with a bunch of nonstock type parts and extra modifications/hassles. I like the simplicity and reliability of the stock style set up. I understand it and I can work on it.

Later I plan to swap out the gear set for the Passon overdrive set up.

Passon 5 speed

Picked up my Passon 5 speed OD tranny this last week.:blob1::blob1:

I was #4 on the production list, but Jamie said he has almost 400 people wanting one!!!

If you would, please keep us posted on the install and how it feels in real life use. I'd like to hear from someone who actually has one as opposed to what is said or assumed.

Thanks

I'm seeing prices in the range of 4300 or so for the Passon?

that passon looks nice, i got a tremec tr6060 6 speed reman for 1800 with a one year warranty. had to get bellhousing and throwout bearing but still under 3500 for the whole thing. i thought that was pretty good for a 6 speed.

I know the crank sticks out a little bit further on the 5.7 so that is probably the biggest obstacle if you use a factory small block bell. Not sure if the aftermarket bells compensate for that. And not sure about the pilot in the crank. Im gonna check my engine tonight and see what the end of the crank looks like.

Crank flange

yes, the crank flange is further rearward than a stock SB Mopar. Plus a special flywheel is used - eg McLeod 464108. You will have to cut ~7/8" off the nose of the input shaft on the tranny.
The crank usually has an adapter ring installed that you have to remove and then install a pilot bearing like 53009180AB.

Just went through your build thread on A Bodies RealWing that is some awesome work! What part of Ontario are you in?

So does the flywheel make up for the crank sticking out or does the bellhousing have to be spaced back?

Yes. The flywheel makes up the difference in offset. No bell housing spacer needed.

You must be a speed reader - I've posted a lot of pages so far!!!
If you live in Guelph - you probably know where Kincardine is??
