I know it takes a -12 an fitting but is milodon's pickup machined for it's own 90 degree bulkhead -12 an with o ring or will any -12 an 90 work?

Chris,

They take a 90 deg. with a bulk head on one end with a jam nut. You use the O ring on the pick up side between the block and the pan, then use the jam nut to tighten it up to the pan on the outside. Make sure to use silicone on the outside behind the jam nut.

Thanks I just got the kit from milodon since the fragola -12 an 90 degree bulkhead fitting did not thread into the swinging pickup.it started binding right away.
I'm not sure if the threads were different on their -12 an fittings.

You can get gasket washers at the parts store to use behind the jam nut if you don't want to use silicone. Makes for a cleaner job but either will work.

I got them also but still not sure why the swinging pickup -12 an female section won't accept a fragola or earl's -12 an bulkhead 90 degree.
is milodon's different thread pitch or something?

I ran into a fitting the other day that had SAE male to NPT female. Could it be that?

Did you get this figured out yet?

YES, I just bought the milodon fittings and they work. fragola's didn't. at this point, all I cared was that the threads engaged correctly. guess we'll never know what the deal was . unfortunately, the fittings were twice the price.
now I need one of those windage trays.

Ha, I think at your power range, everything will be twice the price.

as long as you have the clearance under it so as not to suck to the pan you should be good to go .
Look rite from what I can see.

swinging pickup hits the trap door, only swings 25% one way, towards the door, other way is fine.
my concern is swinging pickup gets caught under door when its on decal and getting jammed permanently in that position, defeating the purpose.

I would think the oil would slam the door closed before that happens ? But if I am ask Why run a Swinging pick up in that style pan ?
That pan has the doors and baffles to keep a static pick up coverd .
I never used a swinging pick up as I alway baffeld the pan to keep the oil where it need to be.

I am running a static pickup in my 65 blue dodge now and im getting 0 psi oil pressure at decel with a trap door for 8 seconds. none of my other cars with swinging pickup ever lose oil pressure so I bought this pan with swinging pickup.
its scary watching your gauge for 4-5 seconds have no oil pressure even with a accusump.

Well with that being said I am with you !!
I don't drag race anymore . I just turn left and stick her sideways ! LOL!!
I realy don't think you will have a problem with the set up as it is. The door will be closed by the time the pick up gets to it.
I mean thay made it that way and there suppose to know what there doing ?
