Hi,

I'm about to send a set of gauges out for repair so I can finally have a complete set of working, lighted gauges. My gauge bezel is not cracked but it is faded and the chrome is long gone. Anybody ever had someone restore one of these? I know I can buy one, but then I have to transfer the lenses and all that stuff... I have to figure I could have it restored for less than the $345 reproduction part. Just curious-

I can't remember what I paid but I sent mine over to Glenn at GCAR. He has a website with rough pricing so that may help you.

I also sent mine to Glenn a couple years ago. At the time, he took a bit longer than I was quoted, but I was very pleased with the results. I would use him again.

Thanks!

Has anybody bought the repro bezels and lenses from B/E&A? Any thoughts on the quality? After adding up the "worst case" cost with GCAR, the repro is cheaper... but I've seen questionable quality and fit on a lot of repro stuff like this.

:angryfire: Bad experience with P G Classic Charger Dash Gauge Bezel....
I hope B/E&A don't have the same source for those bezel !
Recently I bought 144-66CH -1966-67 Charger Dash Gauge
Bezel Non/AC

I must say the cosmetic of the part is good, but the fit of the part is not,

After installation of the new Dash Gauge Bezel I realise
the part was not fit deep enough in the dash see attachement I tried to figure out what was the problems (remove and
install many times the bezel) and I do dammage to the bezel ,many
scratches...

After inspection I found the problem, the back of the
bezel is not like the original more material in the back see attachement.

To fit your part I do a lot of rework on the metal
housing to have a decent fit...

Now the fit is better but the bezel is damage. If the part fit the first time I will not end
with many scratches and dents.

I sended Email to P G Classic never had an answer, :icon_thumbdown:

I suggest to redo your bezel more expensive but not poor chinesse repro bezel...

I purchased my repro bezel from Mike at BEA parts for my 67 restoration project, plus the lenses and it all fits perfectly. Maybe that was just a bad part....I'd definitely get my money back from PG...

Thanks all. No decisions made yet... but it's getting to be about time.

I bought the repo bezel and it is a very poor fit. It stands out and the screws don't fit correctly either. I would restore your original. I would never buy the repo again!

In the process of re doing my 69 RR cluster, re built the circuit board, cleaned and polished the cluster lens / bezel, used the white vinyl overlays but cleaned and painted all the old gauges first, added a clock with a quartz crystal conversion.

Not hard to do just time consuming, for re chrome I would send it off the the guys in Texas for $50 they will re chrome it and make it look new.

Here the answer from PG Classic...

Hello Jacques 144-66CH -1966-67 Charger Dash Gauge Bezel it reproduce since 2006 and has been sold over thousand. in are recodes it fix good. for the classic old car some time when in stall the new parts on it my need some adjust. i see on you pictures look like need to align out a little on right top. when it finish always had few MM space between body.

How this bezel can fix good with this big excess material Poor cheap PG Classicpart...

Did you bought your bezel from PG Classic....

Bought it from BE&A...it also stood out from the dash just like in strokie's pictures. I also got the "we have sold a bunch and never heard of a problem." My advice is to stay away from the repo part unless they have changed the molds.

Like others I have had a bad experience with PG Classic. If there is any issues or problems, PG Classic will not address the issue. In my case I was ignored and no corrections were made. I purchased the dash bezel from PG Classic and the fit is poor and the chrome was peeling off the plastic as soon as I started to install the part. The chrome did not have any adhesion so as soon as you apply any pressure to the bezel during insulation, the chrome started peeling. The problem with Peter at PG Classic, he will not address any problems and blames the buyer for issues. This happened in 2009-2010. I will never deal with PG Classic again. Quality of the parts is poor.
I also purchased the first set of repo taillight chrome trim. The parts are made of aluminum (Not pot metal) and are very soft. I installed the trim and the chrome cracked on two of the trim pieces. Now, my car was professionally restored, the quality of the work is very high, ground up restoration which took 6 years to complete. Upon installation of the trunk trim (aluminum) part was bolted into place with only 12 pounds of torque and the soft aluminum would bend while installing. Peter at PG Classic blamed me and my car for inferior quality repairs or improper installation. Not the case. A straight chrome part installed on a straight edge trunk lid with attention to detail on torque specifications.

So, bottom line, the quality of parts from PG Classic is poor and customer service is even less.

After hearing all the complaints about the aftermarket stuff, I sent my 5-piece set for my 69 Charger to Vacuum Orna-Metal. They did a great job and it was cheaper than buying new China made repops.
