Prestolite distributors

Dick,
Advanced distributors, Shakopee MN. (612)804-5543 will do them and it will look like new when done. $250.00ish, I've recently had him do 3 340 prestolites, he cannot open up or repair the original vacuum advance, but will retrofit a modern unit if you desire, or are not concerned with the original look.
Terrill Machine, Deleon TX. (254)893-2610 will rebuild/restore your original vacuum advance to look like new. $75.00

I just sent the distributor to Crossram Connection. I'll post some pictures when it comes back.

There was a recent article in Mopar Action that tells you how to restore them.

Yeah, I do.

I did this OEM electronic conversion for my 66 HEMI Charger. It fires an MSD box hidden under the right fender.

This is a 340 distributor I did for a MoPar restoration shop in OR. This was probably the biggest POS dizzy I have seen and required a lot of work to make right. In order to make this unit like new I had to not only replace the bushings in the housing but make a new shaft with an oversized pilot for the cam. It is very common for a distributor to have a lot of wear in this area. Pic of shaft by itself shows the original advance weight plate brazed to the new shaft - and phased correctly I might add. The Pertronix unit was supplied by customer and needed a little finesse to align properly. Due to the original style vacuum advance units being non existent, I had to modify the breaker plate to accept the more common late model vac advance. This was not a concourse restoration but a driver for the car owner's daughter, so they weren't picky about what vacuum advance they got.IMG_1375 (Large).jpgIMG_1377 (Large).jpgIMG_1379 (Large).jpgIMG_1392 (Large).jpgIMG_1393 (Large).jpgIMG_1394 (Large).jpgIMG_1395 (Large).jpgIMG_1397 (Large).jpg

Norm received the distributor on Tuesday & he called me on Friday to tell me that it was finished. That's the quickest turn around I've ever experienced.

Just got the finished product back from Crossram Connection. I'm pleased.
