Went out for a spin with the RR on Sunday

I had recently overhauled the tranny with some fresh goodies and haven't had a chance to drive her due to weather, but it was decent out, so I figured I'd test out the tranny on a back road :headbang:

On my first run, I started off in 2nd gear just to make sure everything was holding up and it went fine :)

Then on the second run, I rolled into 1st, spun 2nd, grabbed 3rd, then some a-hole driving a bus decided to turn right in front of me

I'm sure the driver's last name was Coyote

Now, my RR stops and handles like a box truck, so things got skwerly and I had to swerve around into oncoming traffic to avoid hitting him :icon_confused:

After catching my breath, I did a few more runs on a wider street and on the last run, the stupid throttle cable snapped :sad6:

Bogged 2nd and didn't have much power going into 3rd, but when i tried to slow down, it wouldn't drop below 3500rpms

The cable had frayed at the pedal and wouldn't come undone, so I pulled over, shut her down, yanked the cable off at the carb and idled her 5 miles back to the shop :icon_neutral:

Lets just say the folks driving behind me were not amused

Anyhoo, enough yapping.....

You guys know I have video ;)

Nice. Great job on the editing. Who says these cars were not purpose-built?

WHOA 98 Snake Eater . . . have your butt cheeks released their grip on the seat fabric yet ? ? ?

Whew . . . what a story ! !

Awesome video and a great way to start my day. Thanks.

Sweet sounding and running car. The phone book accident attorney for the folks on that bus would have appreciated the video if you had actually connected. I did notice you had an additional problem that your right front wheel is not turning. Also at the 0.00 point in the video it appears you are being passed by a riding mower. :rolling:

After installing my new carbs and using the ole' *** dyno to dial them in,the same thing happened with the throttle cable at the foot pedal. It stuck to the floor,I hit it a few times with my foot but it wouldn't come back.Turned the hey off right before the upcoming curve.Took 10 minutes for my pulse to return to normal!:buttkick:

WOW, that is a great story and one of the most entertaining posts I've read in a long time. This made my day. Awesome video to with it too! How did you do that? Did you have 5 separate cameras mounted to the car?? Dennis, we should do this to your car for the Spring Fling Mopar event. I especially like right around 2:20 where the bus pulls out and you added the WTF comment and the Road Runner "beep-beep" - now that was cool. I want to see more videos from you with your car.

That's some funny stuff right there! Especially the lawn mower crack hahahahah

Yeah, I usually have 5 or more cameras mounted (some in crazy positions lol)

Yeah, it's especially difficult for me cause the horn on my daily driver is just a little louder ;)

Been there and had some scary times myself. Trust me, you will never forget them.

I had two that seem just like yesterday that happened many years ago. At one point, I had 4 wheel drum brakes on a 10 second car (yes I know, I now have Wilwoods) and same thing as you happened. Went for a ride, top of 2nd and into 3rd and someone pulled in front of me. Had to change lanes and some good driving kept the shiny side up.

Other was similar as well. Was at the track, made a pass, let off gas after MPH trap and throttle was stuck to floor. It happened actually in slow motion and I was very calm at the time. I reached down and killed fuel pump and shut off ignition. All of this while screaming at 6,000 some RPM. Got out of car and un-stuck throttle. Got back in, drove back to pits and then my knees felt like jello after it settled in what happened. My buddy's said, they saw the lights come on and still heard my motor and wondered what was going on.

Everytime I blast a car, I still think of those two situations and it makes me just a little more cautious and careful when I do. I really pay attention to my surrounding and make sure I'm in a safe area.

Love the car thief video. Quick justice in your area.

Here in Jacksonville, if someone plays their stereo too loud, we just shoot them dead and let our County Prosecutor sort it out later.

Cool car and an awesome video. I think that God is telling you not to drive you're car until we can here in the Northeast and most other parts in the country. Glad nothing major happened to you or the car!

Awesome video, I wish my car could spin tires like that but my lowly 383 has a hard time breaking loose with 3.55 gears and a sure-grip.

She's actually de-tuned for the street (timing pulled way back to run on pump gas)

I'd like to run max timing on her one day just to see what she can do :glasses1:

Unfortunately, race gas is not cheap and I'm not able to get toluene from my supplier at cost anymore :(
