Here's hoping someone can give this "mechanically challenged" RR owner. At some time in the past, a previous owner of the 74 RR I own either broke or removed part of the Roadrunner dashboard emblem. I managed to get a new emblem complete with the little roadrunner head, but for the life of me, I can't see how to remove the old emblem and put the new one on. The old one may be glued in place, but I can't tell for sure. I also have no idea how to go about removing the part of the dash holding the emblem to install the new one. If someone out there would be kind enough to "take me by the hand" and walk me through the procedure, I'd REALLY appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Rob

if someone didn't glue it , it will pop off of there. there are three pins that snap into retainers behind the bezel. you might be able to get your hand behind there (with the glovebox liner out) , feel the pins and push them out from behind. either that or pry the old emblem off carefully.

There are three pins on the emblem.
The insert has 7 screws holding it in the dash but there is also the pins in the vents
I dont know how you would go about removing the screws with the dash pad still in as I removed the whole dash pad.

I will go find and edit some pictures for you tomorrow after work

Mine was very hard to get out without removing the whole dash. it had rust on the outer metal pins and I needed to take the dash out anyway, but as you can see from the pics above, you might be able to pry it out. Just be very careful.

Thanks very much for the help. I was able to get the emblem out by removing the glove box liner. A bit of a pain, but not too onerous. Unfortunately, the keepers that slide over the emblem pins were beyond repair and I was unable to find any of the right size at the local parts department. A little bonding epoxy solved the problem. One thing is for sure...that new emblem ain't ever coming off there without tearing the entire dash insert to pieces.

Thanks again!!
