I have pin hole sized leak on the weld of my front wheel which I've tried to show in the attached picture. It is a slow leak that takes it weeks and weeks before I need to fill it. It's a Magnum 500 style wheel and its had this problem for a long time and a tire shop found it for me.

One picture is pointing where the hole is and the other shows the air blowing bubbles with some soapy water. I'm wondering how I should fill it. I've considered everything from a spot weld, JB Weld, gasket sealer and bubble gum. I'm in Kansas and we have some serious swings in weather. I don't see any cracks, hairline or otherwise, so I'm not concerned about the integrity of wheel, but maybe I should be? Thanks!

Remove the tire, inspect it from the inside. The barrel has to be cracked for the air to leak out.

I quick fix with a bit of weld. Just do a good check from the insidt to see if its a rust through issue.

Replace the rim... if the amount of weel weight to balance that out is ridiculous... I just bought some mag 500's from summit and center caps from sterling's...

I,d slap some jb weld or epoxy inside and never look back. Sure welding and dressing the weld is correct but epoxy works.

The epoxy will indeed work, and so will an inner tube - for stopping the air from leaking. However if the crack flexes with each wheel rotation while driving, it will grow. Cracks and areas of fatigue shouldn't be on your wheels so unless it's a static display car, have it properly repaired or replaced. Be safe.

I recently fixed a pin hole in a Boyd wheel and it's working great.
We took off the tire and used JB Weld... not much... no more leak.

try it, you'll like it

Thanks guys! I'll take the tire off this week and let you know what I discover and decide to do.

X2. Looks like it might be rusting thru...

Here is another post to close the loop on this leaking wheel issue in case someone else has a similar problem. After taking off the tire and inspecting the inside of the wheel it appears and feels like there is a thin/flat spot in the where the wheel is leaking. If I can find my receipt, the factory sales rep said they'd "make it right." If I can't find the receipt, I'll buy a new wheel . . . since won't Daredevil accept liability for his advice! Nevertheless, I'll attempt a spot weld to fix the old one, put in an inner tube, and turn the wheel into a spare. FYI, What looks like a crack isn't a crack but the seam that goes around the wheel.IMG_1835.jpgIMG_1836.jpg
