I know it's not a B-body, but I figured I'd show you where the rest of my $ goes. It's a '68 Newport that I scored last Spring. It is a true rest free survivor that I found with 86K original, 2 owner miles. I spent the last year modding it with a lot of help from the fine gents over at FCBO.

It was originally a 383-2V, but I installed a dual plane intake and an Eddy AVS carb. I also added a mild cam, HP manifolds, and converted it over to electronic ignition. Other mods include a mild converter and a 3.23 Sure grip to get this boat off the line a bit better. After that, the addition of wheels and tires, dropping the stance a bit, and a stereo install have turned this thing into one smooooth cruiser, and definitely something a bit different.

Real sweet ride for sure! And you don't see these everyday either. What brand of wheels are those? They look very period correct and couldn't match that car any better. Imo that's one of the hardest things to do on these cars. Nice job!

Thanks guys! Sorry Hemi-itis, it's an auto. A stick sure would be sweet though, and something I have definitely thought about. Khryslerkid, they are American Racing Hopsters, and thanks for noticing. I spent more time than I care to think about searching for the right wheel, for just the reason you stated. I settled on these because I thought they kind of had the look of Halibrands, a very period correct style. I thought adding the spinners to them made them even more retro-cool, too.:icon_cool: I also decided to keep them 15's, so I could retain a huge amount of sidewall on the tires to fill up those cavernous wheelwells. Hey, not like this thing can turn a corner much better than an aircraft carrier anyway! :icon_biggrin:

We'll done! Nice looking ride!! I do like the wheels, they look great IMO

The nose looks good, but when i scrolled down to the profile shot, I almost dropped my iPad. That stance is sinister.

WAAYYYY Cool! Love the color and I agree on the wheels.

That's a cool car. It reminds me of my father's old 68 Chrysler 300.

I likes me a fast top slab side C body.

My mom's second car (which I remember vividly) was a 67 4D Newport in yellow with black interior powered by a 383.

A recent junk yard find of mine was a 67 Sport Fury fast top in 881 blue with H code 383-4, factory 4 speed, a/c, and power windows! Would have bought it but JY wouldn't sell because it didn't have a title.

way cool I like it drive the wheels off that thing

Cool car, bet it's a blast to cruze in.

Nice!! I can see it with 20's and rubber band tires......PLEASE NEVER DO THAT!! :D

Thanks again, guys! It did turn out pretty cool, especially for what little I've really got in it. Me finding a total cream puff that only needed a few detail items certainly helped with that!

Hemi-itis, that mill you've got there is just plain bad! As for the tailpipe tunes, I will oblige very soon when I get the thing dug back out from hibernation.

YY1, that sounds like an awesome find! I might've had to offer that junkyard my first born to pry it away, title or not! :icon_wink:

And Cranky, LOL! No worries there! Although large rims have their place, and can look cool on some rides, I'm definitely NOT a fan of the donk look. Besides, I think the guys over at FCBO would personally hunt me down and thrash me if I did that to such a clean specimen. :violent-smiley-100:
