Hey guys, I have a question about using 15x8 rims on the front as well as the rear of my '72 Satellite. I wanted to go with 15x6 on the front but the rims are unavailable in that size and the 15x7 also. Using tires 245/60/15 rear and 225/60 15 front. Would the 8's be o.k. for the front?
Thanks

Depending on the offset, I don't see why this would not work. I have seen Dodge Magnums (1978 style) with the Super Coupe 15 x8 factory rims. It looked great. I have had 14x8 rims on the front of a 74 Road Runner with P265-50R14 tires. This was back in the 80's when 14 inchers were common place.

225's would work with 5.5 rims

a 17x9 rim with 0 offset(5" backspace) on a 275/40 tire clears no problem, still have a 3/8" gap before you hit the outter tie rod

Well mines a 69 but you decide - my 15x8 mag 500's and 245 60 15's fit well .

Thanks for the pics! Just what I needed. The mags are the same rims I'm using. The vendor has already sent the 8's for the rear but I've been waiting 3 months for the 6's for the front. Now they tell me that the manufacturer is having problems getting centers and there is no eta on them! Do you have drums on the front? If so, how did you get the rim center cap on over the bearing grease cap? Very nice ride you have by the way!

If they have the 15x8's tell them to change the order you will be safe. the wheels fit over the dust cap just fine it's larger than it looks. you will be fine. I went with the 8" all around just in case I wanted to get bigger tires one day. look around at other places for center caps I got all of my stuff at Summit racing

The 225/60 x 15 will go on the 8 inch rim, it just won't have any ( ) bulge to the sidewall.

- 225(measured in millimeters) is just under 9 inches.
- The '60' represents sidewall height. 60% of the width (225mm x .60 = 135mm)...is just under 5 1/2 inches.

These are approximations, as no tire is 'exactly' what is stamped in the side.

I think wider front wheels and matching tires are a good thing. Most of the braking and almost all of the steering happens there, so it can only help.

I was thinking that also. The tires I have on the front are practically new. Guess I'll have to make a decision on whether to buy new tires for the front or send the rims back so I can get the 6's for the front. The vendor has agreed to take them back, thankfully.
