difference between a '64 Belvedere, and a '64 Fury??

Those are some pretty good comparison pics there "dvw". Is it me, or does the post sedan have a slightly shorter deck lid than the hardtop? I almost like the shorter deck appearance of the post sedan better than the hardtop.

Same deck lid and 1/4 from the factory, it's just the picture is stretched.The other thing is mine has the wheelbase altered a little. The rear tires are 31" tall instead of the normal 26". The wheel well is lengthened 4" and the rear axle is moved forward 3".

Too good. He actually mushroomed his oil pan a bit when it came down on that second video.

This is a 64 Savoy two dr post equipped with the factory wtf were you thinking option...it was a rare purchase back in the day I was lucky to find one...

64 is a "strange" year as in this very year, the (street-)hemi was introduced. If done correctly, the scoop matches the engine that lays underneath. In the previous post, the car is equiped with a MaxWedge scoop. Not all cars that came with a MaxWedge or a hemi got the scoop by the way.

Another difference is that the Savoys and Belvederes have one style of tail light while the Fury and Sport Fury had a different tail light.

It was stated earlier in this thread that all Furys were hardtops.

A quick Google search shows Fury 4 door sedans.

No, that was ’66. The race Hemi was released in ’64.

How did the hood close then? Even with the bracing removed the hood wouldn’t close.

As far as I remember the only cars that got the 2 headlites (one per side) was the Hemi factory race cars. I dont believe the Max Wedge factory race cars in 64 got the 2 headlites as I believe the max Wedge cars had the standard 4 headlites. They went with the 2 headlites when reducing all the weight they could to lighten the Hemi cars and they took out all they could. Myself I like the sedan roofline like DVW's car has the best but many like the hardtop roofline best. I also like the Belvedere trim the best on the 64's as I like the way it turns at the front as I just think it looks good on them. Most 64 factory race cars had the scoop but not all I believe did . And usually when they had the scoop the Max Wedge cars had the scoop that dips in the middle and the Hemi cars had the scoop that was the same level all across the front. Thats the way the factory tried to do all of them but today you can see it anyway as most build their cars the way they like. Here is my brothers 64 that is the hardtop and he has the larger Hemi scoop as the fatory scoop was only about 2 inches tall. Today they make them much taller for intake and carb clearence. Ron

This is my 63 as I know its not a 64 but I have the Max Wedge scoop on it as its the same Max Wedge scoop the 64's used so it gives you a good look at what the factory size Max Wedge scoop was. All 63's had the roofline like mine as it was 64 when they started giving the hardtop the different type of roofline. Ron

If you click this link for Moshers I posted under this and look on the left side as you can click the Finished Cars button and then click on the 64 Plymouths. The second car down is a silver 64 Plymouth and you can see its a hemi car as it has the correct height factory Hemi scoop and the Hemi cars 2 headlites. They have many great looking 62-65 Mopars on that site. Ron

Similar to the big hemi scoop you showed in the photo, I put a "Super Wedge" scoop on my Barracuda. It's the same basic shape as a wedge scoop but is 2 inches taller. Although wedge and hemi scoops were exclusive to B bodies, this one is at least period correct and gives the little car some added attitude. I tried a Hemi scoop and it didn't look quite as good to me on this particular car.
