Ethanol free gas

Make sure when you use that site, that you click on the right hand side next to the gas station you plan on going to that says "details". It has updates on some of the gas stations that users put in. Not all of those gas stations on that list are up to date. Better to check that than make a drive out of your way only to find out that they have changed to ethanol gas now. Still not a bad idea to call ahead if it is really out of your way.

Thanks for putting that up. I see the town I live in is on the list.

Thank you for sharing, My wife and i were just talking about it tonight as i just took my car out of wraps and told her i need to go up and get gas, she can get it and i said i want high test, i wish i could get some real live old time gas lol, Ill get what i can to make it easy but...

That site is handy and I've used it when I'm traveling. My problem is that I'm down to one station in my area that sells non-ethanol gas and they apparently think that it's liquid gold. It's about a buck a gallon more than premium at the other stations.

Yep, one right down the street.

80c more than 93 octane for their 89 oct non-eth.

That sucks Moparsmitty, I don't understand why businesses have to do that. My local ethanol free gas station is 1 cent cheaper than premium but he only carries mid-grade octane level but I'm fine with that.

It's a real shame we have to scrounge around trying to find corn free gas just so some politian can take a bribe legally.

Corn free gas does cost more but I always get better gas mileage with pure gas so it evens out a little.

Nearly all the stations around here have went with the non ethanol so I have a big choice. It is a little higher but not bad, gonna get the cars filled up as soon as I get the old gas used up in them.

If you treat your gas with Sta-Bil or a similar product, it'll last a LOT longer. Heck even non-ethanol gas that's not treated will go bad pretty quick depending on the brand. I know for a fact that Exxon regular wouldn't last near as long as Shell regular and even my /6 Belvedere would ping on Exxon but not on the Shell. The place that's kinda close to me sells straight gas shows to be someone's home but has the business name of AJ's Racing Fuels and answers the phone as such but they want 7.50 a gallon for 95 ethanol free. Screw that....I'll keep on buying the Sta-Bil.

If we could get that we should be able to get the same gas we had in the 70's.. IF im remembering right.. seems funny to have the fuel company's thinking on this but there isint enough "gasoline" to give to us? What am i missing here with the whole picture... im sure im off in some way.

Thoughts on avgas?

If you can get it, use it. Provided you have a nice high compression engine that needs it, and you can get avgas100. Even if it's just blended with automobile grade gas. Some people have had trouble with avgas not running well until the engine is hot, probably because of the lower vapor pressure since avgas is designed to be used at altitude. But when I crewed a friends stock car, that's all we used. Even the exhaust smelled like performance...not the wimpy car gas smell. You'd know the smell RC, from airplane engines..:)

Of course, you could get low lead avgas (100LL) which is still has plenty of lead for our cars, but there's also unleaded avgas in which case, why bother?

A lot of small airports won't fill your car, citing road tax rules. However, many will fill gas cans for you, if you tell them it's for off road use or for a boat.

I used avgas in my 10.3-1 340 Cuda but it only took a gallon to top off a tank of 93 non-ethanol to get rid of ping in the summer time....and I don't know of any airport that will pump directly into any motor vehicle that's registered for the road. Filling gas cans and you walking away is another matter but they want to hear that it's for off road or a project air plane :D
