I'm hoping the survivor route is the direction the buyer takes too but I'm not sure who got it or where the car went... Who knows maybe it will show up on this forum and we'll be able to follow it!

The only thing I knew about the transaction is the guy who bought the 70 Charger first got a steal of a deal and by the time the woman sold the GTX she had a better value of it's worth so it went for a more fair price.

Thanks for the info on what you used for mounts too USA.... You're not worried about the vibrations with a solid mount?

Nice progress :wtg:, bet your pretty excited now having your motor up and running. As far as the mounts go it's all in the owner, do you want it nice and smooth or do you not mind some rumbling and vibrating? I have a shaker scoop to worry about hitting my hood and have decided to try the original mounts with a Schumaker torque strap, I want a nice quiet cabin for cruising. I think the Schumaker Poly Locs are pretty good too but also add a little vibration as well from what they say. Your motor looks great, well done

Absolutely excited to have it up and running and really happy with how clean the installation is turning out! I really want to hear it through it's exhaust though so hoping that will happen some time this week.

I'd like to stay away from the Nascar feel of a solid mount and have a little bit of cushion in there.... I'm going to give it some further investigation tomorrow but given the similarity between Props and my build and how happy he has been with the Mity Mounts that is most likely the way I'm leaning right now.

Anyonje have any feedback on the clutch issue mentioned above I'm stumped with that one...

Hey GOON . . . Maybe you're just getting older and just can't handle it . . . OR . . . the car is anxious to GO, GO, GO ! ! ! ! ( take your pick ) ( SMILE )

my motor is the 6.1 fuel injected so there is no radical idle lope. plus i wont be driving it everyday so i hope its not real bad. i will let know when i get it running..

Do you have the spring from clutch fork to bell housing installed?

I believe so but I'll check again tomorrow. From what I can see everything is as it was before except we changed the disc while the engine was out

Hahahaha This reminds me of the old mechanic that use to do some work on my car telling me how stiff my clutch pedal is and I replied "I hadn't noticed!!" I'm hoping this thing wants to GO, GO, GO!

Forgot you were doing the 6.1 makes sense now and agreed shouldn't be much of an issue for you.

Mike - thanks for posting this - my 70 Charger 500 came in the same colours, Y3 yellow with tan interior and a white roof. It still causes me to think about going Y3 with black interior and black roof with stripe.... This summer I'll have to decide but plum crazy is a strong contender.
your build is really coming along nicely. I would advise protecting the water pump finish if you are not going to paint it. I have the same unit and it now looks pretty crappy with lots of oxidization.
Thought I would share these pics with you guys.... When I dropped my car off at the shop last fall the owner said his buddy had just got ahold of a 70 Charger Barnfind and there was a 70 GTX next to it that he was going to look at... I guess the old man had passed and his wife was downsizing and unloading the cars... He picked up the GTX as a flip but decided to advertise it as a project and couldn't believe how much action the car got and sold immediately... here's what he brought home

Glad you like the pics of the Barn Find Patrick and I'm sure you'll be fighting with yourself to pick that colour right till the end but I'm sure whatever you go with will look sweet!

Thanks for the advice on the water pump too I'll be sure to figure something out to keep it protected. Hope to see your build thread started here soon! Any recent progress on the Charger?

:icon_thumright: No sweat goon! It's holding up to the popcorn maker under my hood, so i'm guessing you'd be just fine. The standard rubber mount on the passenger side has had no issues either.

I agree Ron it will make someone a great project I'd love to follow that restoration for sure! I looked at it briefly when it was in the shop and the hamster wheel started turning with a few ideas about picking it up myself for a future project but I knew it would be a stretch to get the $$ together and then have to sit on it for a long time before it could be brought back as a survivor or a correct restoration.

Glad the video made you smile it sure brought a grin to my face too and I'm thinkin' the same thing... Angrybird will be true to it's name! hahaha :)

I wasn't sure if you had done both or just driver's side. I think I'm going to do both just for the sake of it as a "while I'm at it" kind of thing but as long as it keeps your dragon in place I should be safe too!

You bet! The rubber mount helps settle engine vibration to the chassis, but installing both will really ensure the monster won't come creeping out of the closet. :evil7:

That is usually the toughest part and especially when you really would like to have one, that's my wife's favorite one and the one she learned how to drive a 4-speed in, I myself love the looks of them! Hope it all works out with his resto... :)

So here's a small pain in my A$$.... I ordered this tach because I liked the look of the SW... seemed very "period" correct and "Ol' school" to me

http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/sww-82162b/overview/

They had 2 versions of this tach dash mount and "universal" Turns out that even the "universal" doesn't sit in a cup-surround it's just an exposed back body.... SO now I have to see if SW sells a surround for it or sell it and look for something different.

Oh and I'm having another thought crisis I would welcome any opinions on.... I was going to put some time/effort/MONEY into re-spring/re-foam of my bench seat... Now I'm thinking for what it's going to cost I could pick up a NICE set of aftermarket buckets.

Yes.... No coming out of the closet!

I'd love to own the survivor/numbers matching car but only after I have my Pro-Touring type that I can drive and enjoy and really put my stamp on. That's why other than being able to afford it the GTX didn't appeal to me at this point... That car deserves an owner that can do it right! :)

Beautiful runner you have there!

Thanks Dangina! Really enjoying your build thread as well and eager to follow it through!

I haven't had much in the way of updates as of late so this thread has been pretty quiet.

The guy who owns the shop where my car is stored took a few weeks vacation (that I wasn't aware of but I have no problem with that regardless) but forgot to tell me that he wasn't able to source the remaining parts that we need to finish my car out before he left (had I known this I could have had everything waiting)

So upon his return and between my crazy work schedule right now I was able to get everything ordered and waiting on the one part that cleared customs yesterday afternoon (My MITY MOUNTS!)

I also put in some time trying to de-grease and scrape several layers of color, stickers and grime from the underside of my hood so it can also be cleaned up and painted.

So here's where I'm at. Once the new mounts get here and are installed we can plumb the new exhaust. I just caved and ordered Dynomax Ultra Flo's because I didn't want to use the Flowmaster Super 40's that came with my kit and figured I may as well get the one's I want now and sell the Flowmasters new and untouched.

I think I got the guage cup sorted for the tach I was having problems mounting and should be picking that up from the local Performance Improvements store today where I also ordered my K&N Xstream air filter last week.

Once this exhaust is plumbed we can get this thing warmed up and dial in the carb and timing and rubber should be ready to hit the road.

Here's a pic of the after of the hood (found orange, black, blue, green and silver) as well as something else that finally showed up that put a huge smile on my face

**UPDATE** Mity Mounts just got dropped off at my door I am now officially a very happy fella!
