1968 440 head question

I've found a set of rebuilt heads on CL, they are supposedly a 1968 head casting #2951250. My question is, for $500 are these anything special, would they be better than the 452 stock heads currently on my 440?
I have not called on them yet to see what exactly has been done in the "rebuild" of the 1968 heads, valves, springs, hardened seats, etc. I am mostly wondering if they would have any advantage over my 452's or if I should stay on my current plan of having the 452's reworked for my budget 440 build.
 
They aren't anything special. They are a '68 only casting and I believe no different than the 906. I'd stick with the 452s.
 
The 452 will be a far superior head than the 250, however, the 250 is nothing like the 906. The 250 ports are more like a 516 head, but with a large combustion chamber and a 1.74 exhaust valve instead of the 1.60 exhaust and small combustion chamber of the 516.
 
Thanks for the info, the 250s are rather obscure and I've only heard limited info on them. If they were done with the closed chamber units and already casting 906s, why the 250s? In what cars were they used in?

Flow like 516's with 88cc chamber.. sounds worthless.
 
From my observation the 516, 346 and 452 (and now it seems the 250) all have a flat intake port floor. The 915 and 906 have what I believe to be a port with better transitioning into the pocket. So with that bit of info the 250 is not far off casting wise to the 452, so if the $500.00 buys you a proper rebuild with hard seats, I'd say do it. The problem may be sorting out good machine work from bad. Or you can take your $500.00 and the 452's to a shop you trust.
