Hey everyone. I'm looking for a setup for my car. I bought it last year and whoever added the bubble didn't do me a favor.

I've been looking and My best option appears to be buying a complete set up from an aftermarket company because buying everything I don't have is more expensive, but then I have an extra bubble. PG Classic has a pkg for $1750.00 thats almost 20% what I paid for the car.

Like almost everyone else I'm trying to do this on a budget as money is tight and living in Canada means I have to exchange my money and ship at higher rates too.

Any thoughts?

I just bought some Rallye wheels from a guy who has a 71 Air Grabber hood sitting in his back yard that he's trying to get rid of. That's the good news. The bad news is he sold it to a guy who didn't even want the hood, just the Air Grabber portion of it, and was willing to pay the full price for the hood, have the guy take it apart, and just send him the parts he needed, so there's now a hood with a big hole in it sitting in the guy's back yard. He told me the buyer had tried to go the aftermarket/Chinese route and was so disappointed in what he got he said screw it and ponied up the extra $$$ to buy a complete hood and have it taken apart.

Makes me glad I've always loved the 73/74 Road Runner hoods better.

i was dead set on a repop set up like you are
i even had a couple of mint flat hoods.
untill i saw them up close first hand..yuk you can spot them from a half mile away
imo very easy to pick out.
i kept my eye out for a while and i found a original set up for sale here in the ads.
made a deal and i picked it up at carlisle in person
no shipping hassles.
it was missing alot of hard to find fasteners/studs/bolts ect
and put together with wood screws and machine screws..lol
let me tell you that stuff will nickle and dime you to death! ..
then also consider the hood is heavy,
so you might want to upgrade your hood hinge springs also.
so whatever you do, find something as complete as you can with all the unique fasteners.
i probably have around the same amount of coin into mine as the repop costs..
you just have to keep your eye out and have patience.

I have never read anything good about the PG Classic A/G
I would be very hesitant to buy it.
Not to mention that their so called "customer service" isn't exactly stellar, should you have an issue with what you buy.

I sent you a P.M.

the guys number that I sent you , restored mine

the problem with the repop is the bubble does not fit the hood
as tight as the original bubble does so once you notice the difference between it and a orig bubble.
you can spot it pretty easy from a distance
for the amount of coin they want for it
i think its not worth it.
adding a 71-2 grabber hood is gonna cost ya money, repop or not.
you are better off with a original even if its a little more coin
at least you have something that is at least worth the investment you put into it
the one key thing when buying a hood is to know
that there are many unique fasteners and some of those fasteners they do not repop
so it is not a easy task to find missing parts and some are expensive like bellnuts at 15 to 20 bucks each
some took me years to find a source for the long studs they don't repop anywhere.
i found nos ones by luck.
so whatever you buy, make sure its complete would be
the one thing i wish i knew before hand.
you would be better ahead keeping a eye out
on here and a few other mopar boards
ebay or hitting a big show like carlisle
where there are always a few hoods to look at
over the years i've seen many for sale
from 1100 to 2500
i think for around 1500 - 1700 you could find a pretty good one if you have patience.
they are not that hard to find if you really look around for one

I will try calling him either tomorrow or possibly Sunday. Thank you for the heads up. I hope it works out.

thats your best bet, the old man bought one and looks good execpt for the orange lever that opens and closes the door was backwards for some reason, I bought the fiberglass one from stinger (DO NOT USE IF YOUR TRYING TO MAKE IT FUNCTIONAL) as theirs I didn't know at the time was only made to look the part, not function :( I compared mine to the old mans from pg and pg looks right. You won't find it any cheaper sorry to say..

I'm not sure of the make of the one on the car. The door seems functional, but we'll have to see what I can find.

This guy in Alabama has been running ads for the door and trim ring for $250 for a while now.

That is the 70 conversion piece, not a 71-2 style.
Or to be technical it is the 70 Plymouth piece and the 71-2 Dodge piece.

Going by your location I'll assume this bare hood is sitting in Florida???

I can use one right about now in AZ where my car is getting painted real soon.

He took the ad for the hood down, but I emailed him to see what his status is. I'll let you know what I find out.

I don't think the hole is cut correctly. The airbox should bolt to the studs on the bubble.Looks good from the top though.
