dash and headlight motors/ COST OF RESTORING-66 CHARGER

I asked these questions because I know the electo...... dash is a unique piece of mopar engineering! going to look at a few project cars, just trying to decide if I want to get involved with the 1st gen charger again... I like them but cars have always come and gone around here. don't want to get one and find it costs too much to have a decent workin dash, I would never spend the $$ for rechoming, I can polish lens, just wondering....in fact I wondering in here from FABO. y aknow how us A body guys are! ?? LOL

Cheap and 1st gen do not go hand and hand! ha ha ha
Sure a person can cheap out on the dash and stick some aftermarket gauges in. In my mind its the dash and headlamps that makes the cars. If you have a 1st gen you have to have all that stuff working. No it isn't cheap.

Sterling clasic auto may have those I know they have the wiper motors and its the same sort of thing

Bob's speedometer 're did my dash and Gary's 8 track just returned my player ..... there are people who can rebuild you're cores.

Year one may have those motors for the head lights

It all depends on what's wrong exactly.
Kind of hard to determine on the spot, and without any prior G1 experience.
I got lucky and my EL dash started working intermittently the first day I drove it. Turned out to be just a bad headlight switch.
My original headlight bucked issue was just a loose motor, so an easy fix.
Lately, been having issues with opening, so am gonna start with relays. Member here, A383Wing reproduces those(3) for around 80 bucks.

Since your question was "how much does it cost?" and nobody has answered that I'll do my best. Providing you have the dash and gauges and headlight motors, you're going to be in about 2K. $500 to restore the headlight motors(Topher the Motorman did mine, he can be reached at 980-329-5938). The Gauge Doc aka Mark Gibson was a little over 1K to get the EL in working order and repair the gauges and upgrade to more modern components. A new bezel is $350 and matching glove box door is $150 at Classic Industries...

Hope this helps....Scott

yup....that's about right...

prices above are a starting point....relays are extra, possible limit switches also....dash light power pack rebuild is around $75, which I do, along with the relays....
