Hey guys, I have a friend that is looking for a Thompson Power steering pump for his 68 Charger.. It has a 440. The current pump growls really bad and dumps fluid everywhere.. I haven't seen myself, but this is what he has told me.. If anyone has one that they want to get rid of, please PM me with the info.. I did find a remanned pump, without the reservoir.. If anyone has info on how to swap the reservoir, it would be greatly appreciated... I haven't found much, but am trying to research it.. Any help??

I have one for 50 + the ride. But they aint worth $#!%. Brackets and all. Hose too if you want it.

To remove reservoir remove brackets and pump assembly from engine after disconnecting lines. Remove bracket bolts from back of pump. After bolts are removed from back of reservoir grab reservoir and pump/pulley and they should just separate. Be careful not to bend or kink return line stem. If hard to separate you can place wood against pump high pressure line area that sticks above reservoir rim and give a sharp tap while holding reservoir. Do not pry between reservoir lip and pump or hammer pulley. If you need to remove pulley it is pressed on and you need to use this style puller:http://www.harborfreight.com/pulley-remover-and-installer-set-40749.html.

If your reservoir is dented you can slide it over a large diameter smooth pipe end or anvil horn and lightly tap out the dents with a smooth, slightly rounded faced hammer.

Good source for pumps ( read descriptions and confirm your pump type):
