Ministarter info needed

Looking to swap the ol cannonball for a mini starter I see a lot of people putting in Autozone/Advance Auto but I want to go junkyard route first (heard a lot of success stories...) my question is what is the latest year/model veh I can ask for that will fit my 383/727 combo ?

I know that a 92 Dakota would have one (V-6 or V-8).

most any Mini starter will work, just ask for one for a 94 Dakota with V6 or V8. You may have to modify the battery cable to get it to fit. It's a close fit to the side of block with the terminal lugs.

careful with junk yard starters....they will probably have to have the contact points inside replaced...common issue with these little Nippendenso starters, even on the original cars

personally, I would not waste my money on a junk yard one, new ones at part stores are around $50

94 - 99 Dakota with 5.2 or 5.9 V8

I got mine at Advance Auto for a 91 ram you have to remove the adapter for the wires first it will hit the block if you don't

Dude, go the junkyard route and save your $$$$. I have no regrets that I went that way. 20+ years between 2 vehicles with no problems.
