Im planning on pulling my intake of my 66 383 charger and blocking off the heat cross over off. Last Summer the intake manifold was getting bloody hot after driving it. I was thinking about swaping the intake for something that is good for a few more rpms. It has a eddy performer 383 on it now

Stock 906 heads
Comp cam Duration 274/286, Lift .488/.491
MSD Atomic EFI
10.5 KB pistons
Headers

Planning on taking it drag racing a few more times this year
On the Chasis Dyno it was still making hp until it hit my 5500 rev limit

The next time out to the strip i was going to bump my rev limiter to 6,000

If you have the room under your hood the Eddy Performer RPM intake is a very good intake and would help your combo a little. But its taller then the stock intake and you would have to make sure it will fit under your hood. Ron

You might gain some but I doubt it will be night and day. I ran the factory iron intake on a 440 and it was good for high 12 sec 1/4 mile in a 4000 lb car. Another 440 I had was good for low 12's with a standard Performer intake (sounds like what you have). A 383 I had in the 80's had a high overlap cam (108 LSA) and it really liked the old torker. Adding a dual plane slowed it down. If your cam has low overlap you might just leave well enough alone or maybe just add a 1" spacer to see how it runs. If the spacer makes a noticeable difference (usually at idle and off idle drivability) then cut a 3/8" deep notch in the plenum divider.

If you're running the factory exaust manifolds they have a recirculation valve in the passenger side and if it sticks shut it will super heat the cross over theirs a heat control spring that will fall off or rust out... a bolt in place of the valve is a cheap fix once the valve is removed....

I posted my thought on this on your other thread about "disappointed..." I'd go tm6, torker (for 383) or the rpm! Good luck

Thanks Didnt even notice more people replied to that thread

You can get an intake gasket (valley pan) that has the heat crossover already blocked.

I am thinking about swapping my Holley Street Dominator intake on my 451 for a Performer RPM. Should help the entire RPM range. Just a note, the 383 performer is an older intake. And the Performer RPM is a newer one that supposedly works real well. I wish Edelbrock would have named these 2 intakes differently, as the names are similar and can be confusing.
